Old, tired hotel
choccycon 08/08/2017 08:04I don't expect Travelodges to be the height of luxury, but I do expect a decent bathroom and double glazing, neither of which we got here. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the beds were clean and comfortable. However, the bathroom was ancient and smelled damp, and the shower was poor. There was no double glazing so any road noise was really loud in the room, and the curtains were really thin so as soon as the sun came up the room was too light to sleep. We paid for breakfast and this was fine, although the breakfast room was too small for the number of guests and felt cramped. Location - it was a little further out from the centre than I had thought from the map. We only used this as a one night base while we were in Edinburgh to see the Tattoo, so it served its purpose for that.
Nice hotel but watch the parking
mcbeanton 08/08/2017 06:53Nice Travel lodge a bit out of the way but good clean and tidy. This is an old hotel building so layout all highly pigely, but very nice and quiet.
Two issues.
Parking in Edinburgh a nightmare. I used a parking app and parked car at Scottish Widows building 10 mins away.
The breakfast room/cafe is to small on a morning
Staff great excellent stay.
Edinburgh Fringe stay
Fiona3107on 06/08/2017 16:28Lovely hotel just round the corner from Haymarket Station. All staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing! Relaxed and friendly feel to this hotel and will definitely be back for another stay.
Rough start...
Olivia Hon 30/07/2017 23:10The hotel is accessible via the tram or Airlink 100. I elected to use roundtrip Airlink. It stops at Haymarket Station, where the hotel is a short walk (not on main road) from there. We were given a spacious room in the basement. Shortly after check in, an issue arose with my toddler which led to an uncomfortable first night. I was glad I prepaid the unlimited hot (English) breakfast (kids eat free) as I needed something to get me going the next day. There is a bar on site. You can also order lunch and dinner. There were plenty of channels and a few cartoon channels for the kids. On the day of departure, I commented to the front desk about the issue I experienced my first night. Hopefully it will be addressed for future guests. Although there is a Travelodge closer to the city center, this location has many options to get to the center (only two stops on the tram) and is more affordable.
Honeymoon trip
Spencer_Manleyon 30/07/2017 22:51Perfect location to walk into Edinburgh to walk off the lovely food and drink.
A good 1.5 miles into town but some nice pubs en route to help your journey back.
Good and friendly staff, older building but full of character.
