VFM stay near Dusseldorf

indiexplorer16on 12/04/2016 13:07

A well-priced accommodation a few miles off Dusseldorf. We stayed here as most hotels in Dusseldorf were booked during Exhibition time in early April. The place has nice and cozy rooms with most of the things you would generally require. My experience of the single-bed room was nice and it was overall a pleasant stay.

A pleasant, decent hotel with an array of high end knives for sale in reception!

Another business trip brought me to this pleasant yet rather bland little outpost, once again selected by the corporate super efficient mandatory in-house terror of a 'travel & living' reservation system! I was attending the international wire trade fair in Düsseldorf this week, the one week every 2 years (or when any major trade fair or event is taking place in the city for that matter) when those canny Düsseldorfers decide to drastically hike the price of most things - especially hotels.

At €93/night incl breakfast, this was one of the few rooms left available in the vicinity of Düsseldorf despite booking a couple of months ahead, which shows you just how busy this place gets when several thousand visitors from around the world descend here simultaneously. The hotel rate was still very steep versus a UK benchmark.

H+ is a well ran, efficient and clean place (although did find one solitary monster cobweb formation hanging from the ceiling like an arachnid wire suspension rope which lead to an impromptu room inspection). The breakfast was canny - fruit, yoghurt, toast, bread, meat, cereals, sausage, bacon, eggs, water, coffee, teas, juice. Shame I am on a regime. Watching some guests try to negotiate the very prominently positioned disable access ramp into the dining area was a daily source of childish amusement for my colleague and I. The breakfast staff were all very diligent & polite as were all the hotel staff for that matter.

Room was pretty basic, bathroom was well equipped & clean. Ample cupboard space & hangers. Desk to work at, lots of lighting options, a volatile TV, 2 single beds at 90degrees to one another with two of the most deceptive pillows I have ever had the displeasure of coming across (cease innuendo right here). I slept terribly, as I often do when travelling, but the bed and particularly the pillows didn't help. Road outside was also noisy as I was right opposite Burger King (constant temptation) and hotel was adjacent to quite a busy road. There was an abundance of German boy racers in Solingen revving their sirenesque exhausts through the early hours both nights.

Probably wouldn't choose to stay here again but also wouldn't be in tears if it was mandatory - I would bring a nice pillow though.

Double-bed rooms are great

I am staying in this hotel for last 4 weeks. I use the double-bed rooms which are quieter, good standard and also affordable for the price. Solingen doesnt haven many good hotels with affordable price and good quality room but H+ hotel is surely one of the good place to stay. Its close vicinity to center is really helpful. Resturants, supermarket are walking distance. I will recommend this hotel for double-bed room as i am pretty satisfied with it.

"Ordinary" hotel close to Solingen Center

A clean and plain hotel with very nice staff. They provide good service, speak good english and you are always greeted with a smile. The best part of the hotel is the breakfast buffé. It is not excellent but very good with different kinds of bread, cheese, ham, warm dishes, youghurts, cereal, fruits, juices...
Other than that it's a very "ordinary" hotel with a good location close to shopping and restaurants. Also a plus for the free parking and good wifi. I would have appreciated some sort of gym. The bed was comfy and there is TV, a fridge, and some complementary bottles of water.

I will start with the very good breakfast. Location is ok. It is about 10min walking distance to the town center. Rooms are clean but really old fashion. Personally I am satisfied cause I stayed for business purposes. Hotel staff is really kind and friendly. I have to add the really good quality free wifi.
