What People are saying

amazing wedding

Margot Mon 11/04/2017 13:57

I went to my nephews wedding here on Saturday April 8th and have to say how very beautiful everything was from sitting on hay bales for the service to such fabulous food . It was all so truly lovely the staff are so pleasant and helpful and a special thanks to Rachel for looking after our table so well . I shall certainly be returning for a visit very soon . A beautiful location a wonderful day everyone was so happy to be there. Thank you so very much.

A perfect wedding venue

We booked the farm for four days, taking over the whole venue for our wedding. The pre wedding organisation was extremely thorough, thinking of things we hadn't thought off. The set up day was the Friday afternoon with cream teas, I think we had a few extra people which didn't seem to be a problem. The day itself went very well, the ceremony was held on the decking by one of the accommodations. ( I would suggest a microphone and speakers as the people sitting below couldn't hear the ceremony as it takes place under cover). The food and the setup was great, Richard the chef surpassed himself and everyone had praise for the amount of food and the quality. (that was always a sticking point for me as I've been to weddings and only been given a sausage, so it important that all the guest were well fed and they certainly were.) The stay, the food, the venue, couldn't have been better.
We suffered with some extremely bad weather in the evening and some older people did have problems as the toilet is across the yard. I would suggest to Trenderway at looking to install some facilities in the area of the barn, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
Trenderway helped me arrange a surprise blessing for the Monday, going the extra mile on such a big occasion shows that Trenderway and staff are certainly on the ball.
Things just happened during the day without us knowing or having to get involved. We spent a long time looking at different venues and catering.
Our opinion - you just can't go wrong.

5 star gem

We have just returned from a few days here and we cannot rate it highly enough. From our cream tea on arrival to the friendiness of the whole team, where nothing was too much trouble. Outstanding breakfast and accommodation in a wonderful setting.

Perfect!

Just returned after a two night stay at Trenderway Farm. Our room was the Hayloft which was just perfect, as was the entire setting. At only 200 or so years old, it was the more modern part of the farm! Breakfast was delicious and the staff were all very polite and helpful. Jackie was extremely welcoming and pointed us in the right direction for the nicest restaurants and beaches. Will definitelt go back to such a beautiful, romantic setting.

Its okay - but it is not 5 stars or a luxury from the experience.

This B&B seemed to have earned 5 stars and rated luxury status, so something we looked forward to experiencing. However, it is not a place we would return to. Here's the good, the bad and the grumble to explain.

The Good:
- Country location and good views
- The rooms we stayed in were a good size, as well as the bathroom
- It is clean
- Pretty good standards - like nice soaps, shower gels, nice linen etc.
- A trust bar (drinks and snacks)
- Cream tea on arrival
- Jackie (the owner - I think) seemed nice.
- Had a call to confirm when we plan to arrive.

The Bad:
- Not greeted on our arrival, despite walking past the kitchen with people in there! And arriving at the time we stated. Had to wait about 10-15 minutes and was told the delay is because of paperwork. Um - how about saying hello, and then do the paperwork... or have it ready before we arrive?!?!
- The person we saw serving breakfast had blue (or green) dreadlocks, green shaded glasses, metal ring in the snotter and stared at me(!) as I walked in to the dining room. It was me that said good morning! I don't mind how someone looks - but it is not 5 stars & luxury to look like that AND be unfriendly.
- The geese outside were very aggressive. The B&B chap found this funny, which it isn't. They won't cause much harm, but they can attack all the same. A more professional person would have moved them away. I walked around them as they hissed and he looked on ginning.
- Conversations with the same chap seemed to be of a slightly boastful nature - talking about their 5 week holidays in Italy and how they 'personally' know the owner of the restaurant we were going to that evening. Good for you.
- Wifi was very intermittent and S_L_O_W when it did work. I mean struggling to get emails slow - forget skype etc. Yes, you can actually have a good holiday without Wifi, but the point is; if you advertise it - properly provide it.
- The breakfast was nothing to shout about and it had the presentation of being a bit mean. It was dry and accompanied with tiny glass of orange juice. The juice was freshly squeezed but was about a mouthful - that was your lot. It was one of the most disappointing breakfasts on our holiday travelling through Cornwall.

The Grumble:
- Given a tea on arrival (good) but before given a chance to put bags in the rooms.
- The room and bathroom are tired decor-wise
- A trust bar, but some alcohol items were priced. I think you need a license to do that? I could be wrong.
- I think we met Jackie - but she never introduced herself.
- It was not all that clear that the car park is part of the B&B as there is some distance between the two signs and the buildings are not joined between the B&B and other buildings where the car park is located.

Summary:
If a place advertises 5 stars and luxury - try and maintain that standard. We left under the impression this is a place routined in getting the punters in (advertising 5 stars and 'luxury'), taking their money and getting them out again.

It was not that friendly, a bit up itself, so we felt slightly duped from the experience.
