What People are saying

Nice hotel

Анна Оon 12/07/2017 13:43

A good hotel, which of course is great for Italian families! Fun animation for children and parents. Special thanks to the chef for the excellent selection of vegetable snacks. The whole hotel staff is very nice. The very nice girl at the reception, who speaks English, helped me a lot.
And of course great thanks to barmen Fabio and English speaking barmaid Claudia which didn't let me be bored!!

Base camp for exploring Sila and Pollino mountains.

We are not beach people for whom the Trevi Village is mainly a\designed. Still, it was an excellent base for exploring the inland Calabria. We have enjoyed the stay there very much. The breakfast was a nice touch but, please, get the real Italian coffee rather than its American poor imitation. The staff is excellent and very friendly, particularly the older gentleman in the reception.

Please check the address you have provided to Booking.com. It says "Trevi Village 18 km." It probably should read "Trevi Village, Strada Statale 18, km 349.700", or something like this. The village is difficult to find because the address given suggests to look for it in Amantea which is several kilometers away. Fortunately, we phoned ahead but this option might be difficult for people without any knowledge of Italian.

WiFi was reasonably good but available only in the common area (fine with us).

Apart from this we have enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you for the hospitality.

A holiday from hell, in my opinion

Arrived, and the front desk guy was so slow and incompetent, as 2 people in our party of 5 were Italian it couldn't be blamed on the language barrier. Eventually got keys to our room and a severely under nourished gardner was beckoned to lug all 10 of our bags to the room. The room was small and basic, had a double and a single bed. The sheets were clean, but no one had cleaned the wardrobe or draws. Our room was ocean view, but it was more goldfish bowl as was situated next to the pool and kids liked to look in picking their noses, consequently we kept the curtains closed. There were 3 rooms booked in our party and one room was directly on the railway line, with frequent trains passing by reminiscent of the film 'My Cousin Vinney'....On a more serious note the shower in all three rooms went from freezing to scalding without touching the thermostat, which was painful, and very dangerous for small children. We did complain, but nothing happened.
Breakfast was included and we had to be adorned with a wrist band for this gastronomic treat, hoards of greedy children with plates pilled high with well fingered cake and croissants greeted us. Coffee was from a machine, juice was squash I think. Thankfully the bar outside served real espresso so we were able to escape here away from the kids for 5 minutes.
The pool was very beautiful until I kid you not a few hundred children swarmed it, I hardly saw any adults. The beach was pebbles and sand dark in colour as volcanic with only a few used condoms adorning it. To sit on the beach each room was assigned a bed, and these were arranged like sardines on a small area of the beach, oddly the rest of the beach was empty, but it was forbidden to move the bed.
We ordered prosecco pre lunch and decided to have a second bottle, but were told they'd run out.... However the drinks were cheap.
Lunch was worse than the NHS canteen, much worse. It was €20 a head and I think that the vinegar aka wine was limitless, but we could only tolerate a sip. Food was overcooked pasta, and fish in bread crumbs with potatoes & salad.
Angel Fire (translated from Italian)the bar man was lovely as were most of the staff, but it is what I would imagine a very down market Butlins to be, bingo, never ending musical chairs, and screaming children. If after reading this review you are still planning to visit take a beach towel as they don't
supply them. On a positive the Wifi was free and very good even on the beach.

Don't go here in the off season!

We arrived mid May to find no one in the gatehouse, and the hotel doors locked. Our taxi driver called the emergency hotel number and a construction worker who was moving sand on the beach let us in to wait for the manager to arrive by car who said he didn't know we were coming. I had paid in full prior to leaving for Italy. Trevi Village is 7 km from Amantea, and does not start up til June 15th we found out - the hard way!!. The pool was being filled, there was a large front end loader moving sand all day on the beach - beep beep beep - from 6:45 am to 8 at night ( they called this beach service - and put two chairs out for us- or maybe it was the towels) The manager's solution when we couldnt' find a restaurant open, or any stores, and were hungry and thirsty was to tell us to go to the airport at Lameztia and rent a car, only an hour and a half away by train. Hmm, then he blamed the travel agency. TERRIBLE Customer service - the worst we have ever exerienced in all our years of travel. This is such a beautiful spot, but isolated with absolutely no services in the off season. You do get a room, and it is cleaned every day. We thought we were going to a full service resort, the ad says restaurant, store, bar, pool, and activities. Good thing we had taken the name and number of the taxi driver, so we could go to a grocery store and buy buns and cold meats - no microwave, no coffee machine, there was an empty bar fridge, but not even a bottle of water. Unforgettable experience, and we checked out after 3 nights - I mean who wants to eat sandwiches 3 times a day on their special Italian anniversary holiday? The locals in Amantea were horrified, since they could really use the work - and we had money to spend on good meals and wine, entertainment and extras. Oh yes, great hot weather and no air conditioning til June 15th! We found a great place with wonderful service somewhere else. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses!

Great family place

Our travel agent recommended Trevi Village & I'm glad she did. The beaches are amazing, and I would be hard pressed to find a place with more professionally supervised organized programs for the kids. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. The food buffets are varied and reasonable prices and for us the entertainment was a lot of fun. They even have stage entertainment for the kids in which they are encouraged to participate. I could not give it a 5 due to language problems (the translations are sketchy) and also the room is smaller than expected by North American standards.
That being said I would go back to relax & soak up the sun. By the way my husband & I had no kids with us but loved the atmosphere there.
