Perfect Location!!!

We had a wonderful time staying here. We had cottage 5, which is a very tiny efficiency. We knew that going in so it met our expectations. The best part of this place is the access to the private beach. This hotel is in a residential neighborhood so only the locals and this establishment have access. Beats paying $4/hour to park at the public beaches and this beach was beautiful. The motel provides towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and a cart to haul it in. This was a perfect escape for us and we would definitely visit again. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on the Island if we go back. The managers of the property are extremely friendly. We were in from Pittsburgh during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and needed to be able to see the games. They were great with suggestions of where we could go.

If location is your desire ... they have it. A private beach, quite, peaceful and friendly.
Your at "camp" with room service. Think of it that way. Ask them anything and they will help you. Northeast owners and managers.

Perfect for us

We stayed in Cottage #1 a charming one bedroom that actually has enough beds for 6 but I think you'd feel cramped with that many people. Our family of 3 was very comfortable. Is it the Ritz? No, but depending on what type of traveler you are, that's why you'll love it as we did. It's clean, homey & has all the amenities needed including fresh towels everyday, but no housekeeping, that's on you. The kitchen is small, but included pots & pans, dishes & a few small appliances. It's about a block walk to the beach, if that, but what a beach it is. Private (we never saw more than about 8 people there at at time) & covered with shells. The owners were very nice & filled a few special requests for us. We highly recommend Tropical Winds.

Friendly hosts and real homes not just rooms

Last of the motels I stayed in out of four spots. Loved both my hosts, and needed their down to earth friendliness by week 2 of being on my own. Feeling disconnected. Rooms were homes! I guess I didn't read descriptions but they far surpassed what I thought I booked. Real kitchens! Only small negative was I wanted to be included in the few cottages beachside but were more in the residential area. BUT they have beach carts, chair and beach towel at your front door, so it was no issue getting to beach. Just felt out of the "loop", speaking of beach, they are right there at what seemed like a much more private section. It was uncrowded almost like having a private spot. But still great shelling. I want to be back there!

Nice place to visit for peace and quiet.

We wished the room was a bit larger and the amenities were not up to our standards. Only gave us soap. Thought that shampoo would be included. Bring those items with you. But the staff was very good and helpful.
