What People are saying

Worst food ever

Jamie S on 03/11/2017 04:08

We travelled a very long way to visit this pub and when we arrived we instantly realised that we had made a massive mistake after pulling into the car park and seeing before us what we thought was a lovely young couple enjoying an autumn embrace we realised it was actually the chef trying to mount a pig!strange country bumpkins and the food was terrible!

Beautiful lovely country inn with accommodation and camping

Rolled up in our VW and had a lovely spot, with electric if we wanted. Went into the pub and was welcomed by the lovely bar staff and restaurant staff. Sat in the bar area and had lovely food, and the staff were very attentive but not intrusive.
The meal and drink, along with the service was first class.
Breakfast the following morning was equally as good quality food and as good service as the night before.
The Inn was spotless in all areas and I would totally recommend staying here

Fabulous Overnight stay with Family and Friends from New Forest

We loved this little Gem a great find in the beautiful setting of Dorset on arrival we were welcomed by Chris and Chloe who really were so friendly and welcoming.
Shown to our Rooms which were clean stylish fully equipped with tea coffee making facilities and loved the Jacobean furniture and history loads of character in rooms and restaurant.
Excellent service in both bar and restaurant where we had dinner Food was beyond Good and great value for money we could not eat it all as much of it !
Free Parking and Free Wi Fi amazing value for money and one of the best we have stayed in around this area !
Cider was very tasty just what you expect from Dorset.
Owners have great knowledge of local area and nothing was too much trouble thanks again for a great stay.
We hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Both pub and camping apalling

DomMcVeigh1710 on 06/09/2017 11:26

Booked on campsite for two nights arriving teatime on Sunday. The chap who showed my wife the so called facilities (which were very basic) stated that the key code for showers and toilets although not working was to 'put off travellers' and he told her to lock everything as it was likely to go missing.
This made us feel completely uncomfortable and we did lock everything ( we've come away to relax!!)
As it was raining we headed to the pub to have our tea instead of a BBQ. We had a couple of drinks and asked was it the full menu as there was the remains of a carvery in the corner. The lady behind the bar confirmed it was all available. We ordered a starter which was very basic and then an hour later ordered our main meal.
Several of our initial orders were not available leading my wife to ask wouldo it not be easier to tell her what was available.
We both ended up with Thai green curry with prawns (4 each in all) the portion was miniscule and mostly consisted of yellow peppers. It was creamy but not spicy at all and tasteless.
There had apparently been a wedding event held the day before which may have been why most dishes were off and lagers run out etc but this did not help us.
On leaving I emptied our chemical toilet and their drop point was rank and disgusting which has made me heave. In summary I would certainly not touch this place again with a barge pole.

Filthy room and bathroom.

Was shown room looked round and everywhere was dust looked in wardrobe thick dust in wardrobe by the safe which didn't work went in bathroom looked down saw dust got a tissue and wiped the floor by sink think dust and human hair just awful. Told member of staff who agreed it was not right and offered to clean it which she did. Turned bedside light on looked funny light looked underneath both of them were all cracked inside. Curtain rail sloping down and botched, also toilet seat broken on side.
No beakers in the bathroom, went down for breakfast asked what we wanted no menu said they were getting them printed, no yoghurt or fruit, coffee quite nice. We asked the man who asked us what we wanted was he the manager he said no but he could get him
which he did. He came up to room and looked at problem did not like his attitude at all but he did offer a full refund which was the best part of our stay which was part of my husbands birthday celebration a visit to The Dorset Steam fair.
