Sleep in a trullo
weberweston 02/06/2017 17:37Located right on the main street Via Monte Pertica with all the trulli shops, restaurants, inns, etc. Our room was actually for 3 persons, spread over 3 trulli, spacious and comfortable albeit quite dim at daytime but totally ok at night. Reasonably clean appearance of the rooms, all amenities including a kitchen with good supply of china and cutlery. Rather strange bathroom set-up with the toilet right inside the shower, definitely a first for us! Friendly reception staff, good sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was "farmed-out" to the Enoteca right beside the reception room and we enjoyed our simple continental breakfast including custard-filled croissants and chocolate pane. Quite an experience to sleep in one of these trulli, well recommended.
Fabulous accommodation
StheGon 26/04/2017 17:20This "hotel" actually comprises 16 separate trullia, located in different places around the town of Alberobello. Check-in is at a reception office in the piazza, just down from the trulli church. Our trullo consisted of a separate bedroom with a queen bed, a small kitchen and living room with table and 4 chairs, and a couch that probably opened out into a bed, a loft with a single bed, and a lovely modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. The unit was really cosy and the underfloor heating was fabulous, as the weather was quite cool. The shower worked well, and was probably the most spacious one we ever experienced in Italy! The free wifi worked well. Breakfast is served in a bar next door to the hotel reception, so you have to walk there.Simple fare with bread, pastries, yoghurt and coffee to order.
Next door to our accommodation was a little shop in a separate trullo run by Daniela. We spent a lovely time with her, tasting wines and liqueurs while she practiced her English with us. A delightful experience.
Alberobello is a very quaint town with some nice restaurants and a very different style of housing. As we are from New Zealand, we referred to them as "hobbit houses", but others have called them gnome or Smurf houses! Well worth a visit.
One night stay
R Mon 15/04/2017 19:39The check in went well and lady was pleasant enough.
The room was nice shape and was a great location close to everything.
To bring luggage to the room was difficult since street car parking spots were far away.
In the morning I went to check out (look only) the included breakfast out while my wife was getting ready. The guy at the desk stopped me in a loud voice whom am I ? I explained I was staying in one of the rooms. He told me to come back and asked my name which I gave him along with the room number.
He then believed I was trying to steal food and asked for my room key. I explained it was in the room and then he asked me to go back and get it to prove my stay. I went and got the key and showed it. That still wasn't good enough as he wanted to hold it for closer look.
I then had to return the key back to the room.
By that point I lost all interest in eating their food.
We then left the room with our luggage and walk down the street the manager then chased me down and asked me to pay the room. I then demanded him to call the police as I already paid in full during check-in the day before. With almost a physical altercation starting he then checked the check in log book again and said he was mistaken I did pay in full.
So I was considered a crook twice in the same morning and I was extremely offended.
So not a good experience.
Beautiful Trulli
soniajonestravelon 02/04/2017 09:34These trulli houses have been lovingly restored and fitted out with everything you could want. We had two houses for our family and they were both perfect. Such a unique experience to stay in these stone houses, to feel a part of Alberobello, to sample wines and local produce in the Trulli e Puglia Wine Bar, and to chat with locals and soak up all that makes this place so special. Mimmo and the staff took exceptional care of us and make us feel very much at home. A "trulli" special experience. We will be back.
Delightful and unusual
Libby Pon 16/03/2017 18:53We really enjoyed our stay in a trullo for two.
It was well equipped, with a recently remodelled bathroom and was very warm, which was a welcome relief from the cold wind. The trullo itself was charming and quirky, the bed being in one trullo, the bathroom and hall area in another. The decor was a little fussy for my taste but maybe it was a traditional look?
The breakfast was basic but perfectly acceptable, with friendly staff to provide fresh coffee.
This B&B is a collection of trulli which are scattered over a small area of the town. Breakfast is served in a small bar room near to the reception area, which is a short walk from the accommodation.
The main area for improvement would be the wifi which didn't work at all in the trullo (nor in our friend's) and was only available within a few meters of the reception area.
