Typical socialist hotel
Stojan Gon 08/01/2015 10:20They gave us rooms on the 4th floor with no elevator. The only reason why this is good (to be on the 4th floor) is that mosquitos don't fly so high; this is very important if you stay there during the summer. The toilette is shared with another room. The city center is not close but you can make a nice walk. The restaurant is offering typical socialistic breakfast but you'll not be hungry. The parking is officially not guraded. When leaving they accused us of stealing towels and they wanted us to pay them. Don't know if this is a regular way to take money out of tourists or it was just a mistake. After few calls the recepionist foud out we recieved less towels that's why they were missing. I still believe it was an honest mistake.
Pleasant enough, staff became friendly
Blacktarriversblogon 18/12/2014 12:02My initial reaction to this former barracks wasn't a great one. The rooms were ok, but not great; and the staff seemed inconvenienced by my arrival.
However, on my return after wandering round Volgograd and on the morning of my departure, they were great! Very friendly and helpful.
The rooms themselves were alright for the price - just make sure your air-con works! The breakfast was of decent quality too.
It's not going to win any awards, but budget travellers could do much worse than stay here.
