What People are saying

Basic but comfortable

Andreas Kon 04/11/2016 16:07

• Staff friendly and welcoming
• Rooms are overpriced, and standard rooms feel a little bit like a prison cell rather than a hotel room, mainly because of the small/obscured windows
• Quiet location about 10-20cedi away from Accra mall by taxi. Nothing much else nearby to see - mainly government agencies (FDA, GSA, and FDI)
• Breakfast is OK, not a big variety, though coffee was better than expected. Depending on how many people there are in the hotel, a cooked buffet breakfast is prepared (usually omelette, baked beans, sausages, and rice or pasta). If it is not, just ask the staff to fix you something.
• Don't expect a minibar, though you should get two bottles of water on arrival, and one bottle every day thereafter. Fridge in the room can get very cold, even on the lowest setting bottles of water frozen. Coffee and tea making facilities are available, though the sachets can be hard to open without scissors.
• The bed had a very hard mattress and there is no in-room safe - though valuables apparently can be stored in a hotel safe.
• WiFi was free and mostly OK (allowed WhatsApp calls, speeds of 0.6Mbps down and 0.4Mbps up), though sometimes seemed to require signing in about every half hour.
• Laundry service was very efficient - I always got my laundry back on the same day (dropped off around 8am).
• Hotel has a basic generator for power outages, which runs lights and door locks, but not the air con. Useful given that power outages are common.
• For one outing I was assigned a driver, Sam, rather than relying on taxis. The price was very reasonable and Sam did a great job.
• House keeping of rooms can be a bit hit and miss, i.e. sometimes you get all towels and others you don't get the bath mat or the hand towel.
• The hotel restaurant is very good if you manage to choose a meal they have. This is not just the case for this hotel, but other similar local hotels, too. Sometimes you have to make two or three choices before you hit something they have.

Very basic & average in all sorts

I had to stay at The Tulip inn as KQ was overbooked and I couldn't board. Everything in this hotel is very basic from rooms to food to whatever you can think of. I mean you get 2 star services for a 4 star price. Internet was slow, food was below average, pool was filthy. I think management needs to take good care of their property.

Very good business trip

Arrived here on business and were met by friendly and accommodating staff. Great selection of breakfast foods. Would recommend the omelettes. Clean and comfortable rooms with an option to have clothes cleaned on site. Very handy given the temperatures locally. A very good stay all round.

Not unless you can't find anything better

Close to the airport (10 mins), with airport shuttle and not VERY expensive, but that is all.
Room was OK - just - but a functioning air con would have helped on a hot humid night. Wifi was not working. No lifts (or help with bags available in early morning), and breakfast pretty basic.

Okay for a one nighter

I was in town for an overnight stopover - and since the well known Golden Tulip was too expensive - I opted for this more affordable hotel9. It served its purpose. The room was clean, I di not eat so I cannot say much of the restaurant. Breakfast was fairly basic.

My only beef with them is that the wifi was not working - and when I asked was informed that I had to wait for the IT expert - who must have arrived long after I left.
