What People are saying

lovely stay,booked again

taniamorton789on 20/11/2017 01:06

Booked to stay here for one night originally, as a half way night stop to visit relatives. we dined in the hotels restaurant caradogs and i must say that the food was outstanding and plentiful. Compliments sent to the chef. The waitress was very knowledgable of the menu which helped make our decision. As a married couple who dine out regular the prices were very good. i have seen some reviews regarding the supplements and i disagree with their comments. you would find it very hard to find a lovely restaurant with the same quality of food for less than £20 for 3 courses.

We were among the guests that stayed when they had an issue with their heating. although this wasnt ideal at this time of the year, i must say that the staff were very helpful rallying around and providing us with electric heaters. it was a shame that the log fires in the lounge couldnt be lit as this would have provided us extra heat in the lounge area. When speaking to the manageress she did explain that they could not be lit as the chimney is due to be swept, she was very friendly and sympathising and provided us complimentary hot drinks while she was awaiting the engineers.

Overall this did not put us off our stay and we have booked to stay again in two weeks as a half way stop home. We cannot wait to be welcomed back to the hotel and enjoy our night cap by the log fire.

Very Dissappointing

Stayed for the night on Friday. On arrival the receptionist was on the phone and didn’t even acknowledge our presence or apologise. Once in our room the heating wasn’t working and we had no milk portions for hot drinks. The hotel looks very tired and is in need of a lot of TLC. Lack of atmosphere in lounge and dining room.

VERY QUIET

If you are looking for somewhere that is quiet and away from most things this is the place to go. I stayed here last week with my son as we were going to visit the whisky distillery in Penderyn, the hotel is nice and as a lot of old furniture in it but the bed are very comfy, it has a nice little bar and 24hour reception, the breakfast is a buffet style which I must admit I would have rather had it cooked to order but overall very good.

very disappointing

Went there tonight and came home to have dessert. It seemed the safest. My husband had a beefburger with chips and was charged a four pound surcharge. It wasn't that special. It was okay.I had a meal which took me back to school dinners. The staff need training.A jug of water just gets put on table.Too much trouble to pour a glass out for customers. The staff need to eat out and see how you get served elsewhere.A very poor experience. Will not be returning.A shame as we live just up the road.

Rooms need attention

We stayed just one night & were looking forward to going back as enjoyed our stat about 6 years ago, well not a very good welcome we arrived about 2pm but were told check in was not til 3pm ( but had not been told this when we booked we were told to wait in lounge but not updated at 2.50 pm my husband went to reception to check what was going on as other people were coming in & getting keys straight away we then finally got our key , we were in room 11 end of corridor on first floor room badly in need of a good dust & carpet cleaned bathroom suit needs renewing . Food in restaurant on evening very good also wine not badly priced for hotel £16.95 for a nice Pinot blush waiting staff also very good. Breakfast very good nice quality bacon & sausage.

No decaf coffee in room. The rooms need attention definitely need attention , was better when Drayton Monors had the hotel
