THERE'S MUCH MUCH BETTER NEARBY STAY FAR FROM IT
Overmanuon 26/08/2017 08:36Considering the area it's not impressive to have pool villas at reasonable prices. Staff is not prepared at all to run similar resorts. Restaurant is below standing and food quality under the normal standard. Seen what the area offer in much better position I seuggest to forget thi "Ubud Gray Resort"
Nice Place for Honeymooners
engbadawisameron 13/08/2017 10:37Upon our arrival, the hotel provided us with a cell phone during our stay in Ubud Green, and they have a great service which is wherever you are they will pick you up back to the hotel. In addition to the free shuttle bus service every 2 hours.
Very great staff with excellent services. A good, quiet place for honeymooners.
Sadly, we would not return again...
Chrissy Ron 12/08/2017 13:40We spent 3 nights at Ubud Green, and would not return again. I hate writing negative reviews but if I think it is fair to do so, I will not hesitate to help other people make decisions about their holiday.
When we arrived, our room was not yet ready (even though check in was at 2 and it was already 2.15), we were given the option to sit in the reception or go up to the restaurant. As we had multiple bags that were sitting out the front and we're not keen to leave them alone we opted to stay with our bags and wait for the room. When we're taken to our room, we were shown around and we're pretty exited about the views but unfortunately that's were the excitement stopped...
Once the staff left we looked around and noticed the amount of ants that were crawling in one big line from the window to behind the painting through to behind the TV, there was also a similar ant line on the opposite side of the wall by the kitchen. Now I understand that Ubud is in the tropics and bugs are just a thing, but surely measures can be taken to stop them coming inside like that on such a large scale. The couches were comfy but they had a fair few stains on them making them feel uneasy to sit on. We went to unpack in the main bedroom and we're greeted by a dark mouldy damp smelling room and bathroom that had dirt and mould on the sliding door and floors. The sliding door between the bathroom and bedroom would also not fully close meaning bugs and warm air could come in and out through the gap. Glassware and dishes looked like they had just been rinsed with water and there was a lose tile in the kitchen that rocked anytime you walked on it. Our sheets were also never changed, they would just turn the sheets around so the next night your face was sleeping on the sheet section that your feet were on the night before!
The pool was amazing but a little cold to use when the sun is not directly on it, the views from the pool we're next level amazing. Again, being in the tropics there were a lot of bugs in the back area and some massive ants that covered the deck fully surrounding the pool so jandals we're a must at all times and you couldn't leave your towel on the chair without multiple ants attacking it.
We decided to venture out on our second night using the shuttle service provided by Ubud Green to a restaurant around and we're quoted 55,000 IDR each way which we thought was very reasonable. We were given a cellphone to call them back on when we were ready to be picked up, everything seemed pretty straightforward. When we called reception to organise a pick up both my husband and I spent the next 10 minutes passing the phone back and forth trying to organise the pick up with reception as he kept quoting us 80,000 IDR which we explained was not what we originally quoted. Eventually we said please just pick us up and we can discuss the price in person back at the hotel. The staff at reception told us when we arrived that his friend had originally quoted us the wrong price and they would let us pay the 55k each way but would have to pay in cash on the spot. Didn't seem fair to be penalised for there miscommunication but we payed it and walked away. The next day we decided to use the free shuttle service to Ubud Palace thinking that since it is time scheduled it may be easier than the night before, we were wrong. The return shuttle was scheduled for pick up at 2.25pm at Ubud Palace, we called reception at 2pm to make them aware that we would waiting for that shuttle. We turned up at 2.15pm to make sure we wouldn't miss it and at 2.25pm we watched the shuttle coming from the end of JL. Monkey Forest and turn right up JL. Raya Ubud completely missing us for pickup. We figured the next one wouldn't be far away but 45 minutes and 2 phone calls later we were told the driver was stuck in traffic and basically if you don't like it, find your own way back.
On our last night we decided to stay in and have a quiet one and order some room service for dinner. My husband and I spent time going through the menu, excited and hungry to eat. We called to make the order and after asking for the second item, we were quickly rejected with a 'we don't have chicken today'. 3/4 of what we planned to order was chicken and half of their menu was quickly eliminated by not having this option. I walked up to reception to ask what was going on and they had no idea, they called restaurant and found out the chicken supplier never showed up. Surely they have a Plan B for situations like this? Apparently not. I told them that it was not good enough considering how remote their accomodation is. I was basically given shrugged shoulders and given a 'too bad' look from the man behind the desk and offered a 55k shuttle to town. By this stage, my rage (and hunger) was building and I was over dealing with any of the staff. My husband and I left the place and walked up to the next resort to eat at their restaurant, where might I add we were treated like actual guests and paying customers. When we got back to our room, an envelope was sitting on door. Enclosed was a farewell letter, our final bill and a comment card. The welcome letter had out of date information on it (stating that 200k departure tax per person is required at the airport, which is no longer correct as it is now included in the airfare). I spent time filling in the comment card which reception never took from me in the end so was a waste of time completing.
In the end we were itching to leave Ubud Green and never look back. When we went to hand the keys over to reception I was not asked how my stay was or offered help with my bags, instead I was told to wait until his friend checked our room for extra charges which took over 5 minutes. This for me was the final nail in the coffin and another reason to never return or recommend Ubud Green to anyone. Considering the price to stay here, I would compare elsewhere first and there are so many other great options.
Ubud Green, this was supposed to be a relaxing end to our holiday and it was the complete opposite. I wish we never left Seminyak. This is not good enough and I would seriously consider how you treat paying guests in the future.
First experience of Bali
FawkeOnTouron 03/08/2017 05:06Following 25 hours travelling arriving at Ubud Green was a pleasant experience. Staff were very helpful and we took a half day tour from the hotel which I would recommend. Rooms need a bit of updating and some oil on the sliding doors wouldn't go amiss but the overall experience was a good one..
Nice and relaxing, but room for improvements
TravelerVikingon 29/07/2017 20:08The villa was nice, but not exactly 5-star luxury. The pool was ok, but the sunbeds was uncomfortable, dirty and full of bird droppings. Service was mostly good, but some of the staff needs better training. Not top value for money, but good for a couple of relaxing days.
PS! You should expect some insects and frogs when you stay in the countryside on a tropical island :)
