Mixed feelings

Tara Lon 15/06/2017 09:18

Well. The corner room with sea view was great for the views but the housekeeping left a little to be desired with thick dust on the chairs and crumbs on the floor. The robes (for a spa hotel) in the rooms were so old and with pulled threads that they weren't conducive to wear at all!
The hotel is decorated in a modern style which was a little out of keeping with the outer facade and I think the main thing was the price compadres to the quality.
Breakfast was mixed. Steak (yes for breakfast!) was delicious but had to be sent back for the missing egg and that was after they had had to return to ask how to cook it - it wasn't and automatic question on ordering!
Would we go back? No. Too expensive for what it was.

Room with a sea view

ClareHebdenon 15/06/2017 00:49

The stay was wonderful from start to finish.

The front door was very heavy, but when we made it through, we were greeted by welcoming reception staff, and the enthusiastic duty manager, and told we were being upgraded to room with a sea view (very exciting!).

The hotel was new and the bedroom was comfortable (with a good sized clean bathroom, and a comfortable big bed) with a feel of luxury and spaciousness, and a fabulous cushioned window seat. The room was light and airy, and cooled (air-conditioning). The only tiny niggles were that the wardrobe door slid open (fixed with a comments card between the door leaves) and that the window shutters didn't fully block out the bright morning sunshine, but really not much to gripe about at all. I'd say that overall it exceeded my expectations based on the photos when we booked.

Downstairs there was a light, relaxing and comfortable lounge bar, where we enjoyed a couple of glasses of prosecco on our second anniversary. There were magazines and games on offer for those who wanted entertainment.

We didn't try the hotel restaurant (as we wanted to try somewhere else), nor the spa (we hadn't realized there was one when we booked so didn't have swim wear), but both looked good!

We booked through Mr & Mrs Smith Hotel Bookings, and our stay included a scented candle. We have yet to try that!

All in all a very good stay, and a great 40th birthday present from my family!

Food great, shocking slow service

Doorstomanual500on 12/06/2017 23:44

This was a Monday lunch ....not very busy but 2 waiting staff who weren't pro active.....,the service was painfully slow... 2nd drinks request went unnoticed...waited ages for each course .... They then overcharged me for £12.75 and had the cheek to add on service charge...,which I asked to be taken off ...great hotel but customer service is lacking here...the food however was very good. Wouldn't return I'm afraid.....very sad as it was my daughters 18th birthday .... Didn't have a memorable experience.

Harbour hotel and spa

Really nice hotel stayed for two nights. Spa really nice Swimming pool hot tubs sauna steam room chill out rooms treatments if you want them
When we where there spa was only open for the one day 😤. The hotel arranged for us to go to the Hilton spa. 😂😂. It's not a spa it's a swimming pool with a gym and sauna ☝️.
Back to the harbour hotel Breakfast is amazing full English continental also available
Restaurant is nice food choice ok my partner liked the dinner menu choices but I didn't so we didn't eat there.
The staff are all very nice and helpful
Overall I liked this hotel. 👍

Stunning hotel, fab location

Fabulous recently renovated hotel - decor really chic, modern and in keeping with a seaside hotel. Stayed in the corner suite which was amazing, very comfy bed, big bath, waterfall shower and stunning sea views. Free gin & sherry was a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely and service very friendly. Spa was fun, the grotto was quirky! Only things I can comment were no robes in room or full length mirror - easy things to correct! Overall, loved it.
