Graeme Kon 23/05/2017 21:45This is a superb hotel on the edge of town. The rooms are huge, well equipped and comfortable. The views are pleasant around the hotel overlooking water and farmland.
The public areas are spacious with a nice bar area and a large and popular restaurant. The choice on the menu was excellent and the food delicious. It is a good idea to reserve a table.
Best to drive to hotel as public transport (bus) drops in town and taxi's don't seem to be readily available. I would have walked but for heavy rain.
Tulips were disappointing, but the hotel was not!
Amylynne Ron 29/04/2017 15:40We travelled to the Netherland tulip fields for my birthday. I must say this years tulip turnout was sparse at best, but our hotel was quite nice!
The bed linens and bedding were a high quality. The bedroom and bathroom were all very clean. It was a very spacious, well situated room. We only stayed for a night, but would most definitely return, if we did the tulip festival again.
We did not eat dinner there, but did very much enjoy our breakfast! They had plenty of options, from an American breakfast to that of a European!
I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area!
big rooms, a tiny bit outdated, friendly staff
WorldTravelOneon 17/04/2017 22:18This hotel is not inside the city center of Emmeloord, but it is also not that far away. You could walk it within half an hour. The hotel has a lot of rooms and it caters to bigger groups but also to individual guests. The interior does not have a certain consistent style and the walls in the halls to the rooms are of the same yellow brick as the building's outside walls. The bathroom has cold and warm taps, but no thermostatic mixer taps, not even for the bath or shower. That is something you rarely come across anymore. The doors are totally not sound proofed: even whispering guests in the hall could be heard word for word.
Very Pleasant
Ian Ron 14/04/2017 11:45We have had a great stay at the Van der Valk in Emmeloord - Holland. The hotel sat nicely in the countryside and our very pleasant room overlooked the sprawling countryside which was so peaceful. The hotel was nice and the bar and restaurant was very comfortable. The food was great and the welcome & service was as we come used to with the Dutch, Excellent.
To add a complete bonus it was also Flower season which was beautiful 😎
An extremely welcoming and comfortable hotel

Great (quiet and restful)location for visiting the waterway around Sneek, the beautiful villages of Friesland and the nearby national parks. Plenty of good, secure parking. we received a warm welcome and reception was most helpful in allowing us to change our room (small personal preference). The room was spacious, very clean and well equipped. Comfortably furnished. Bathroom equally good. Good and plentiful linens. Very comfy bed. Great breakfast. Pleasant public areas. Restaurant was rather busy on this visit so we´ll try that next time. Very popular with locals and if breakfast was anything to go by am sure it´ll be excellent. All the staff here were friendly and courteous at all times...indeed service was excellent. Thanks team Van der Valk Emmeloord - we´ll be back!
