Shambolic!!

LadyNana-Essexon 26/06/2017 13:47

An absolute shambles, hard to know where to begin. On arrival the room was not ready we had to wait past the check in time in order for the room to be prepared. Eventually we were checked into a room in the far corner of the hotel on the top floor, the corridor had steps every few metres and was very narrow, which wasn't ideal with two babies in strollers. We did inform the hotel prior to travel that we have kids but they didn't seem to care.
Once in the room I took my shoes off to take a look around and I was far from impressed, after which I looked on the bottom of my socks and they were covered in hair and general dust and muck, filthy doesn't even justify the state of the room. Taking a shower made you feel dirtier than before you went in due to the black residue building up on the tiles. No air conditioning in the height of summer meant the room was stifling and there was no offer of a fan, this place would do well to pass as a hostel, but it's claim of being a hotel is beyond delusional.
What we hoped would be a nice weekend stay in Brighton was completely ruined by West Beach Hotel as such we checked out earlier than planned and moved on to another hotel.
The only thing this place has got going for itself is the location, which is right by the beach for which I will give it half a star.

Hotel! More like a hostel

Spent two nights here with a friend at the weekend. Omg what a dreadful place. Staff were indeed friendly and it's clean - cleaners always cleaning but it's well overdue a huge amount of decorative and comfort improvements.
Two single beds in room with mattresses that needed replacing, one pillow each and thin black curtains that didn't meet on the middle and were hung on rusty poles (yuck). The windows truly looked liked they were ready to fall out - beyond rotten.
It was a good location but VERY noisy at night with constant traffic, drunk people rowing, glasses smashing etc.
Was very thankful we stayed only two nights.
Wasn't cheap either - far from it - had expected very much more for our money. Would we return? NEVER.

Wish there was a no star option

Had a reservation here for one night, I turned up and was told by reception that there was "a problem" with my room and they had no other rooms left so they basically couldn't give me anywhere to stay. This was at 2 o'clock in the morning after a long shift at work and nobody from the hotel had thought to call me in advance to let me know, they just waited for me to turn up then told me. I had told them when I booked the room that I would be arriving late. No monetary compensation was offered, the man on reception did not offer to ring round hotels he just told me to try the holiday inn down the road. They could at least have booked me a taxi, I had to walk down the seafront at 2 in the morning with 3 very heavy bags. Absolutely disgusting customer service would never set foot in here again. Don't stay if you want to be guaranteed a hotel room.

Birthday weekend away.

This hotel is certainly priced because of its location. Room is very basic and a bit tired. It is clean and it has a fridge and free wifi. Parking is close in a multi-storey and is £18 for 24 hours. The hotel is perfect for our needs though as it couldn't be any better placed for pubs, restaurants etc which is exactly what we wanted.

I have stayed in better hostels

This isn't really a hotel, it is more akin to a bedsit or hostel and even these are better and we had a 'superior room', believe me there was nothing superior about it. The bed was a small double, no head board, 1 pillow each, no hair dryer or ironing board in room. The toilet wasn't clean, and the shower pressure was a dribble. There was the worst almost makeshift curtains hanging off the rail and the window was broken. The actual room needed a serious overhaul as well as the exterior of the hotel which is depressing. The place is full of stag and hen parties. There are better value for money places to stay, look at the pictures first, we will not be returning. The staff were polite, but must know it's poor as they never even asked us about our stay, that says it all.
