You get what you pay for
arkibertoon 02/02/2010 04:17The only reason I stayed in Xin Ju Yuan is because of its proximity to FUDA Hospital 7-8 mins walk), to visit a friend's father undergone cancer treatment. I usually leave the hotel in the morning and stayed the entire day at the hospital and only return at the hotel to get some sleep. Reception staff don't speak much english, so better bring an interpreter to accompany you upon check-in. As of this writing, this hotel is undergoing renovatiion, so expect a lot of noise going on. Rooms are very standard 3 star. So you get what you pay for. Upon checking out, I was shocked to learn that they are charging me RMB60 for damaging a picture frame. I told the reception girl I didn't touch or laid even a square inch of it. I even dared them to call the police or an investigator to come, as they won't find traces of my fingerprint. They are undergoing renovation, so probably someone entered my room and did it. After 30mins, they finally told me that I no longer need to pay the damage. Of course I won't pay for it, why should I?
Great Cheap Hotel For Visiting FUDA but don't expect much.
SuffolkCaton 26/03/2009 14:39We had to visit Guangzhou last week, on medical issues in the nearby FUDA Hospital, so this was the closest hospital by far, and was situated 200 yards from the hospital which was fantastic.
The hotel was cheap and relatively good value but 3 star it would not have been by UK standards.
Because it is in the middle of nowhere, the reception staff did not speak any languages other than their home tongue, so paying the bill, calling a taxi and getting a spare room key were pretty impossible. (It took 25 mins to get a key when I locked myself out!)
Very dissapointed with the hotel itself. None of the advertised facilities were available. There was no Beauty Salon,Massages or Sauna available, these were all being refurbished for over a month. If there was a gift shop or nightclub, we couldn't find them. The rooms were very basic. They had a TV and kettle with open dangerous elements.
Rooms were very noisy at night too and one night we had 2 men sat outside our room for 2 hours, which was a little concerning, we were too scared to go out, and couldn't call reception because of the language barrier! Apart from that it felt very safe, I happily walked around by myself at night.
So all in all, good for price but not recommended.
