Eva's Escape is permanently CLOSED

I had booked a room last May for one night on October 13, 2017. About a week before our trip, I received a confirmation email about our stay. When my husband and I arrived, the front door was locked. However, it was a couple of hours before check-in time so we decided to have lunch first. When we returned the door was still locked so I called the phone number on my paperwork and listed on the front door. The number is disconnected. A neighbor told us to walk around the block to an office where we could be assisted. Apparently, the building was sold approximately one month ago, and Eva's Escape is no longer in operation. The folks at the business who purchased the property said the same thing had happened to a couple from California just the week prior to our arrival. We had to scramble to find alternate accommodations. The best part is that a couple of days after our trip was over, I received a thank-you email for staying!! My credit card has yet to be charged, so no money was stolen from me. But, travelers beware that this location is no longer in operation as a B&B. If in doubt of this review, just try calling the phone number.
Fabulous B&B, Great innkeeper, Historic Building, Amazing Breakfast

We stayed here for several days following a meeting at the Conference Center. If we knew how wonderful the B&B would be, we would have skipped the conference hotel and stayed here for both the conference and then our vacation. It is close to the River Walk and a nice walk (15 minutes) to the downtown area and conference center. Deborah Omowale, the Innkeeper, was so welcoming and her breakfasts were amazing. The historic Victorian house (circa 1905) with its beautiful antiques, but modern bathrooms was perfect. The B&B is set in the King William Historic District, which we toured using a web-based guide on our smart phone. We always enjoy B&Bs, but his one is especially nice. We highly recommend Eva's Escape!!!
A gem in San Antonio

This is a characteristic and welcoming B & B. The host is a generous and hospitable person who cooks beautiful breakfast and delicious sweets with local flavour. Eva's Escape is in a historical, quiet neighbourhood where nice eateries are just around the corner. I definitely recommend this special place.
A wonderful place to stay!

We stayed in the Mahogany Room, which although it was one of the smallest rooms had an outdoors balcony overlooking the street and on to the Madhatters Teahouse. I was attending a conference and my husband did a lot of sightseeing so we were not in our room much at all. There was a lovely guest sitting room on our first floor complete with a computer and printer for guests to access. A fridge was stocked with water and lemonade for guests and a nearby microwave allowed guests to pop corn (also provided)
Downstairs there was a large sitting and dining room with an inviting entrance hall. A tasty gourmet breakfast was served each day in the dining room at 8:30am. Deborah, our host was a fine cook and we were treated to a variety of pancakes, sausages and mixed fresh fruit for starters. One of my favourite breakfasts was the double baked potato. The table was formally set each morning with good china, cutlery, napkins set in serviette holders and lovely flowers making the centrepieces. It was a great opportunity to meet the fellow guests. Each afternoon, guests were treated to more home baking and there was always a bowl of savoury nibbles. The lemon slice was my favourite. There was red wine and white wine for guests to drink.
Deborah was an extremely helpful host, who made up an earlier breakfast for me on two occasions so that I could get to the conference on time. The Convention Centre is only a 15 minute walk away. My luggage was left in Dallas, and Deborah was kind enough to deliver it to our door at 11pm at night, when she received it. Much appreciated, Deborah. Deborah was prompt with all communications required and would tell us a story at breakfast time, relating to family memories and the reasons for providing the breakfast menu.
The house is historic, just beautiful and in the King William district. It is a nice walk to the river and on into San Antonio or alternatively you can take the shorter cuts across the busier roads to town. There is a bus stop nearby and many wonderful eating places and restaurants close by. The hop on hop off trolley stop is only a few blocks away.
We enjoyed sitting at the Friendly Spot (just around the corner) in the evenings where we could cool off a little and enjoy Texan life. Thanks for a wonderful stay and if we come back to San Antonio, this will be our first choice for accommodation.
Lovely B&B - delicious breakfasts!

We enjoyed our two nights at this lovely house. The furnishings and decor fit the house's period very well - lots of neat details. The breakfasts we had were delicious and memorable, especially the red velvet pancakes. We will return next time in San Antonio!
