What People are saying

Great hotel, at a price

texasbrian on 18/11/2017 06:55

This place is almost perfect!

Since I was a kid, when we would drive through Dallas, I'd see this building on the freeway and admire it. We used to call it the "Bic lighter hotel" because of the shape. I never thought I'd stay there one day.

It's an awesome hotel, brought to you by the Renaissance arm of the Marriott chain. Expect luxury -- comfy beds, spacious rooms and a lobby that is definitely dressed to impress!

Front desk staff couldn't have been better; they took care of me and made me feel right at home.

The elevators here might be my favorite part. You can't just hop in any elevator. There is a bank of six; you go to a kiosk right there and punch in your floor number, where you're assigned to an elevator. The elevator has no buttons; you get in and are taken to your floor. Love.

Looking for a high-end dining experience? Dallas has tons, but you've got a good one right downstairs.

So why not a rating of five? Parking. Not only it it needlessly expensive for a non-downtown hotel ($18 to self-park, $30, I think, for valet), but it's also cumbersome and difficult. Your room key serves as your in and out for the self-parking, which requires you having to dig it out and fumble with it each time you come or go. More maddening, though, is that there is a lot in front that is tiny; there's a garage with only one floor. There's tons of parking, but in the back of the building with no entrance... you have to follow the signs to basically come in through the front door. So while I may have saved $12 a night, I had to work for it! :-)

The other reason is wifi. It's 2017. Are we still charging for wifi? *sigh*
And if we are, must it be $12? My lunch was less than $12. (If you want "premium" wifi, get ready to shell out even more.) This shouldn't even be a thing anymore... but it is at this hotel.

I still love this place, and I'm glad I finally got to be a guest here. You'll love it too -- especially if you don't use laptops or have a car. (But you'll need to have your rideshare apps on speed dial; Dallas is not a walking city. This hotel has a great location, though.)

Strongly Recommend!

I travel for work extensively and have platinum status with Marriott. I would rate this hotel easily in my favorites. Service is outstanding, food is exceptional, and I have to ask my fellow Trip Advisor colleagues to use Black Car Service for your car service. Call 469-279-1452 and ask for Jesse. He is a pro driver, his suburban is spotless, he is prompt and has integrity/great customer service. Stay at this hotel...you won't be disappointed, trust me on this one.
The cleaning staff will keep your room perfect, and the rest of the staff will make you feel as a world class traveler.

Nice property - room switch was frustating

Overall, a nice enough experience. Staff is friendly. Lounge staff very attentive. Scheduled for a renovation soon, though my room was clean and did not look tired. My only issue was that I️ had booked and been confirmed in a King. Upon check in I️ was told that they were “completely committed” for the evening - hotel speak for sold out - and that all they had left was a double by the elevator. Huh? What about maybe being “committed” to honoring my reservation? I️ am lifetime platinum. The guy next to me checks in and gets, “Thank you for your Gold status loyalty - we have you in a nice King room.” I️ was eventually able to switch to a King but only on the premise that it was essentially someone else’s room - which made me feel like a jerk for asking to receive what I️ bought. Left a bad taste on an otherwise fine stay.

Pleasant stay for business or pleasure

Great location outside the downtown. Only 20 mins away from airports and located 10 mins away from downtown. Great for business events or banquets, good on-site food and large bar area. Try to pick a room that ends on an even number on a higher floor to have a great view of the city.

Nice hotel and location

Recently stayed one night at this hotel as I was in Dallas for a concert. The hotel was very nice and surprisingly a Category 5, so I was able to use my yearly credit card award for this stay. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the amenities were Aveda products. I love it when hotels have designed the room with the extra sink separate from the bathroom and there are outlets on the bedside lamps. Would recommend this hotel for business or leisure.
