Chukka Horseback Ride 'n' Swim

Had not been horse back riding for 20 years. These guys have lots of horses. You climb a three step platform and you can then sit on the horse so it is easy to get on. They took time to match each horse to a specific rider and then further adjusted the stirrups to fit correctly. We rode on a trail for about 40 minutes which included a jaunt into the ocean with water up to about your ankles in depth. There was no running or trotting. I wished that there was more freedom to ride. Essentially every horse followed the one ahead with about a one foot spacing. I would have liked to have a little more room to ride and an opportunity to truly guide the horse.

We then got off the horse and about 15 minutes later you got on a different horse and they took us out into the ocean where we made a loop. There was only a pad on the horse - no stirrups. On the horse we walked about 100 yards out and the water got deep. This walk took maybe 15 minutes. The water came up to about my waist. This was definitely something I have never done before and was fun, but it had one downside. The horses ahead of me pooped in the water and that stuff spread out and floated so you essentially rode through it. lol

There were lots of staff and overall the experience was worth the money and I have a good memory from it.

Shore Excursion: "Blue hole, zip line, white river tubing" Ocho Rios, Jamaica. 11/7/17 - Poor instructions on safely doing the zip line. Tall people (all people) remember to raise your legs when zipping onto (into) the metal platform. I, unfortunately, skinned both my shins above my ankles when I hit the metal platform. Would have liked a "don't forget mon, raise your legs when zipping onto a metal platform". That's just half of it, the other part is there was no first aid available. I sat a good 15-20 minutes waiting, with blood running down my legs, until someone showed up with a couple cotton balls and an old bottle of betadine? Long story short. Report made. Carnival Ships' medical personal cleaned my wounds, gave me triple strength antibiotics and large band aids. I treated and changed dressings daily. Carnival medical staff get a "A". The tour people said I could see a Doctor if I wanted to, however I would have to stay, If I couldn't walk I would have stayed. O.K. you have been warned. P.S. As the Jamaicans say "No problem mon, just a little situation". Ciao

Robert, Kawayn and Lorenzo at the horse ride/swim were awesome. Very personable and professional at the same time. They helped this first time rider feel less intimidated.

Nasty and dirty bus

We bought a tour and the driver came and picked us up with his dirty bus already full of people so we had no choice but to sit wherever. Unfortunately, I had a seat where the AC water kept dripping on me and the bus extremely dirty and disgusting. We will not go with chukka tours again – would rather pay a private driver to take us places. Chukka tours, you need to replace all of your cloth buses with leather seating and don’t over pack your buses to make the ride uncomfortable. Also, your driver was very rude – he disregarded us when we were asking questions and we know he did it deliberately.

Horse back riding

Had a fantastic time horse riding at chukka Caribbean adventure .
The men were very good at there job and safety was very important with them .
The horses seemed well looked after.
Great hack on a track then a swim in sea.
The only downside there was no riding on the beach which I hope there would be.
Bought a cd with photos on and had developed back home was apprehensive getting them developed in case been sold a black cd but all photos came out at a high quality print /well worth buying them .
Really wanted to personally tip the guy that came round with us but he was already riding with next group.
A well worth trip for anyone even if never ridden before .
Thank you guys and horses for a memorable trip .
