Charming

After a long day’s ride, we were happy to have rested in this charming, historic town on a small fjord. The hotel is one floor with knotty pine covering the ceilings and walls. There are also a few small cabins to rent on the property. The rooms were large enough to fit one’s baggage on the floor and one on a rack. As in all Iceland hotels, the comforters on the bed (one for each person--a great idea!) were cozy and the room was warm. The small bathroom did provide shampoo attached to the wall. There is a tiny lounge where one could enjoy an alcoholic beverage and there is a restaurant in the building. The food was delicious and cooked very well, and the room was nicely decorated. The chef even gave me his onion soup recipe! There are attractions/hiking within walking distance of the hotel, so it was nice to get out and stretch our legs. I would highly recommend this little gem!
Little tired now but well managed

Hotel was okay for one night but wouldnt of stayed another. Felt a bit tired the building. Just felt missing something, old building. Our room had a sort of old person feel about it was quite strange. Had 3 very small windows so felt quite strange not looking out a large window. We had a private bathroom but some rooms have shared. Quite small! But then it's an old building so you have to manage with what you've got!
Wheelchair access I'd say no. There was a disabled parking space but I couldn't see how you'd get in, reception was up some stairs. To the side of these stairs couldve been their idea of a ramp but I wouldn't push a wheelchair up a steep slope with uneven stones, I couldn't work out if it was a decorative piece or a ramp! No lift in the building as an old building so we had to carry our 2 very large bags up 2 flights of stairs.
Staff were lovely and helpful. At breakfast a big group were checking out and there wasn't any clean plates or tables. Once asked someone straight away came out and apologised, was very friendly and kind. Which always makes it better as they cannot help being that busy if 30 people are checking out at once.
Kettle in room was intermittent and didn't actually work luckily we'd brought our own. Did provide a hair dryer, tea bags and coffee. There was a pot of shampoo, conditioner and a packet of soap although I didn't notice it till the morning when we were leaving.
Breakfast food was okay. Not much variety, no pastries or hot food.
Generally a hotel which could do with updating but staff were friendly and hard working. Feel maybe needs to be more accessible for disabled people.
Avoid this campsite

N.B. this is a review for the campsite, not the hotel.
This campsite is rubbish, it is overpriced and the facilities are not included, you'll have to pay for the shower. One toilet wouldn't flush, the other had no toilet paper. There were no more toilets, so there were queues to the toilet.
Rubbish, don't go here.
Absolute gem

We stopped here along our Ring Road trip. The town and scenery were lovely, and the hotel was perfect Icelandic charm. It's a more than 100 year old hotel, with the interior being tastefully remodeled recently. The rooms were very comfortable. The dinner at their restaurant was delicious. After some pretty mediocre lodging situations on the trip, this made the entire family happy

We were in the hostel, very clean and comfy bed as well. Good facilities to cook etc. Shame breakfast was not included ;) handy to town. Would stay again. Friendly lady drove her car to show us the hostel (is separate to the hotel).
