A very good camp but expect a cheap break!

Südsee-Camp is a gigantic camp with very good facilities and an excellent location. There is plenty of scope for walking on and off site, the camp itself is set in a forest, well laid out with good paths and nice wooded areas. Washing facilities are plentiful and clean. The whole site is really well maintained.
Restaurants serve decent grub, the shop is well stocked with an excellent bakery and my kids loved the buggy hire! I imagine the beach would be great in the summer - in the winter it was still good fun with a decent play area. The pool is very much a leisure rather than swimming pool and a little on the small side - the rapids are great but it’s hard to see how anyone could string out the whole 3 hours you pay for unless you spend more on a snack or drinks break. Entertainment is provided- cheap and cheerful but quite charming as a result. Mini golf is very good, high ropes well run and my kids loved the buggies.
The camp is well situated for trips to Hamburg & Hannover, to historical sites like Belsen and to the excellent heide Park theme park. Penny is the best nearby supermarket in the nondescript town of Wietzendorf but Edeka in Soltau is very good.
Staff are generally very friendly and efficient. The camp is almost totally frequented by Germans (a good thing IMO) and whilst we got by with pigeon German this was through choice not necessity. English is widely and well spoken.
Gripes: 1. The advertised gym was shut; 2. The cost racks up. I think mini golf and the pool were overpriced, the Pier One restaurant was a lot for what it was, on the high ropes we were charged extra as a member of staff had to help my child when she fell (what was the alternative -leave her there?) Even by typical standards the camp shop is also pricey. 3. If the weather turns bad the options, other than the pool. are pretty limited on and off site.
Oh - and if you don’t like dogs stay away, the mutts are everywhere!
Review for the adjoined comfortable RV Camp across the street

We enjoyed our 1st stay there very much so we came back a second time. The place is not toooo far away from the motorway into the north so you can use it to recharge your self and the RV for a day. Place is good organised with nice a spacious pits. Even a paved place for the vehicle and to sit outside. Surrounded by green. The whole place also is surrounded and shielded by plants. Check-in and electricity fully automated with an keycard.Facilities of the huge campground across the street can be used. Lake, bathrooms and more.
Absolutely good for me and my 8yr kid.

Good campsite, but pool was a joke!

We stayed here for 5 nights in a Eurocamp caravan.
The site is pretty easy to find after leaving the autobarn and didn't cause any issues.
Check in was also fine after reporting to the front reception and getting directions to eurocamp etc.
The site itself is huge! Probably one of the biggest sites we have ever stayed on, so if you have bikes with you, you will use them!! Also plenty of local bike trails which are all pretty flat, as is the surrounding area.
The site facility's are excellent with everything you need being on the site.
Entertainment was a little different as it's pretty much all in German. Reason being, this is a very popular site with German holidaymakers (a bit like center-parks in the uk).
Our main gripe was the swimming pool (indoor) and the cost! You would literally spend a small fortune if you wanted to go swimming multiple times in the pool facility. It's pretty chaotic too, as your on a timer the minute you walk through the door. In hindsight we should have just got dressed quickly and left. But don't the kids hair took a while and we ended up having to pay more money so we could get out!!!
It was all pretty ridiculous considering we were staying on the site!
To end on a high note though, the Lake is really good (man made beach) and it had bars and restaurants around the edge. We spent a fair bit of time at the lake while the weather was good.
Very good site, very big and with lots to keep the kids busy.
Tip - take bikes or hire on site!

This was our second stay at the Südsee-camp so we knew what to expect. Our 3 girls (11, 8, 6) love it there and have already requested we come back next October.
On the site is everything one needs we stayed 7 nights and ate all our meals on site, with 3-4 restaurants and snack bars there is enough variety to please all tastes.
With many varied entertainment around the site with pony and horse riding my girls were never bored, the highlight was once again the swimming pool but be prepared to queue during peak periods as the attraction is very popular.
Eurocamp has two English reps on the campsite and this year it was Andy and Rikki, two perfect gentleman who catered for our every need.
I recommend this site and will be booking with Eurocamp next year......
