Worst hotel in Gran Canaria!!!

I have been coming to Gran Canaria now twice a year for the past 11 years & I have never stayed in the Sol Y Paz, however due to a late booking we decided to stay here knowing it was close to Europa Centre. Firstly, we got to reception & picked up our keys for our apartment, we was pointed into direction of where to go for it and we went straight there. We got onto the balcony to open the door and these a dirty plate & cutlery on our drying line, we left this there for the maid to clean up when she eventually would come. We got into the apartment and wasn’t exactly impressed, we had a coin operated TV monitor on top of our fridge freezer & twin beds. So we pushed the twin beds together for the week, very little plugs in the room there is 1 in the bedroom, 1 in living area and 1 in kitchen. The bathroom is big enough for a borrower... tiny little bath which is also a shower but I wouldn’t of called it a bath really, you could probably bath a small child in it. Toilet is literally right next to the shower so getting out the bath would be a struggle if we wasn’t slim. We went downstairs to the pool bar and ordered 2 kopparbergs, when given a glass with ice for both my partner turned the glass towards me and I was greeted with what looked like a milkshake had just been drank out of, I grabbed a straw and drank from the can this put us both off eating or drinking at the pool bar. Following day we went out and came back for a sleep before showering to go out for the night, we woke at 1930 and I decided to have a shower & wash my hair. When I got in the shower I was met with the iciest coldest shower I’ve ever had in my life I got out and asked my partner if he had done anything in there to make it cold he said no and when we checked all taps every single one was ice cold. We went to report this at reception, however reception was closed and a note had been left on the door for new arrivals to pick up keys at pool bar. So my partner went to the pool bar she called the owner of the apartments who 45mins later was still not here so I decided to just quickly wash down and wash my hair with cold water. 1 hour later he turns up and checks all taps and says no, no hot water... well dur! That’s why we got the woman to phone you! Anyway... he offered us a shower in the reception but by this time we’d already showered in the freezing water & he told us it would work again tomorrow. So we went out and met up with locals who told us that the water there is solar panelled and would not be hot after 7, so we had to make sure we showered before sleeping after being at pool or beach. We resorted in to knowing this was the place we’d wash and sleep & that was it, we’ve ate & drank out all week. We also have noticed 6 days in (baring in mind were only here for a week) to the holiday the bed sheets have still not been changed & the reason we noticed is when we arrived I noticed a little pink what looks like felt tip mark on the bed which is still there on day 6!! Oh and to top it off we got back to the apartment on the 6th day of the holiday to no water at all due to maintenance but with no warning! This place is disgusting, I’d never ever stay here again. Don’t let it put you off Gran Canaria or Puerto Rico just don’t stay here at Sol Y Paz. I recommend Babalu Apartments if self catering.

Stayed in this resort many times but not in this place, never again! Dirty, tatty it needs a good clean all over. Some very odd people about 😎 I think alcohol was all they were interested in. Nice weather.

Over the past 27years I have stayed in the Sol Y pa z many times. Yes they are dated and definitely need a refurb. That doesn't excuse the lack of cleanliness of the place. Pool area is disgusting. Only hosed down once a week. Encounters haven't seen water in yrs. Covered in Bird poo. Feet end up black just from lying on them. Apartments do get mopped but with dirty water as I found out when I spilt something wiped it up and had to throw the cloth out. I know we where there during school holidays but that doesn't excuse the behaviour of some residents partying until 5 in the morning with no regard for others. The language even during the day with children around was foul to say the least. If you want just a place to crash then book here. If not plenty of other places having refurb done. Sol Y Paz take a leaf out of their book and clean the place. To sum up my 2weeks here it was like being on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

Basic but good

These apartments are basic but lots of good reasons to stay there. The staff are hardworking and friendly. The europa complex across the road has everything you need shops bars and restuarants. Although the walk to puerto rico and amadores is a struggle for those with mobilty problems the taxis cost hardly anything

Stayed here on the 4 of oct for 4 days only to get a call of travel republic on the night before we went that 2 of the rooms we were not getting and moving 4 of our party to another hotel and believe me what a dump.There was 15 of us traveling and i booked 7 rooms when we got to the apartments the man from reception told us 4 would have to move which i replied if 4 move all 15 would but not to the dump they wanted to send us two. after about 3 hours he came back and they had 1 room which stood my ground and said no i booked this is aug and weren't moving he then came back an hour later and 4 could share one room which agreed to but for one night next day we got the other room, any way the place it self was a bit dated but you only sleep and wash so no problem ,just over the road is the europa centre plenty of bars and eating places i would stay here again
