Never again

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst meeting up with friends and unfortunately despite being a nice hotel in a great location its badly let down by certain members of thier staff, the one poseing as the manager. Not only was he unprofessional but also very rude and abrupt. We stay in lots of hotels every year and I've never been treated or spoken to in such a manner. The room wasn't the cleanest ive slept in and on the first night the radiator didnt work and as the windows are neither double glased or closed propley the room was very cold. There is definitely "no" bar as stated in the description but a table with half empty bottles of spirits which in my opinion is unhyguinic and very much open to abuse, not by the guest's but by the hotel management who could basicly put anything they wanted in the bottle and pass it off as a quality product. There is a price list available but they base the amount you drink on cctv and thier opinion so be warned,we where charged £35 for drinks we poured on the assurance is was an "honesty bar" and then the drinks where thrown away by staff who didnt even have the decency to as us if we wanted them. We also had drinks in our room that where disposed of before we'd even checked out. Like I said nice hotel if only run by more professional staff. For that reason next we visit Leeds we'll be staying in a hotel not an upmarket hostel.

More Shabby than Chic

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst at a course in Leeds. Great location and looks lovely from the outside.

Check in was brief and I was given no information about the hotel/breakfast/dining facilities. I was also asked to pay a £100 deposit which I felt was unusual at what should be a high end hotel. I'd read on trip advisor about a complementary glass of wine on arrival which seemed like a nice gesture however this was not offered either.

The room itself was tired looking and could do with renovation. In particular there was throw on the bed which looked a bit moth eaten! The bathroom was slightly better but the shower head was quite low and I'm not sure if I was any taller (I'm 5'1) I would have fitted under it!
Facilities were generally okay, tea/coffee/fudge complimentary. Tv with some free view channels was valuable and when asked I was able to use a hairdryer.

Overall a disappointing stay for the price paid for the room. Not the boutique hotel I was hoping for unfortunately.

Charming boutique hotel

This is a lovely hotel, very comfy beds, spacious rooms, very quiet....amazing English breakfast, you also get a huge choice of cereals, fruit etc. Walking distance to restaurants. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Wonderful staff - cosy hotel

Lovely little hotel with absolutely lovely staff. Very welcoming. Great location. Lovely decor. Clean, modern design. It is on a one way street so can be hard to find but definately worth it. Would stay there again.

A hotel with lots of character, but could do with some upgrades

the hotel building is fabulous, it has loads of character, and the setting, right by the river is beautiful. However, the decor inside in places feels a little tired - our bedroom carpet had some stains on it, the bed headboard seemed to have come lose from the wall, so just turning over caused it to bang loudly against the wall. Also the TV in our room wasn't working, and neither were either of the 2 phones in the room. We informed the reception staff of this, but they didn't seem overly concerned, or make any attempt to offer to get it looked at. We had breakfast included in our rate, and the food was lovely. However, the service was incredibly slow - there was only one waiter on, and whilst he was very helpful, friendly and apologetic for the delays, he just couldn't keep up with demand - we waiting 20 minutes just to order, and another 10 just for our coffee to arrive. Just a couple of areas that could use a bit of investment and attention, and this hotel could definitely be one of the best in Leeds.
