Bar meals are very good at the White Lion Hotel - Welsh cooked ham with egg and peas, Welsh steak and guinness pie, jacket potatoes with chilli or tuna mayo, Hunters chicken are some of the dishes I have ordered and enjoyed. Great beers on tap too. The bar and dining areas offer tables for 2 upwards, ie can cater for a large family. The "snug" is a great area for children as there are toys available.

We called in for a drink and lunch. The menu was very reasonably priced and a specials board with some home made meals. I had a mains from the starter menu of stuffed peppers with ratatouille and goats cheese.It was delicious and the portion size was almost like a mains .My other half had home made spag bol with garlic bread.It looked great and tasted even better.Service was lovely.

After seeing the reviews my brother, cousin and myself were a little apprehensive of what to expect. We arrived for 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised. Yes the room was a little basic and the shower not very good but it was fine overall. It was clean and tidy and yes the floor creaked and wasn't level but what do you expect from an inn over 300 years old?
The hotel is what it is - old fashioned. Bar area is great with plenty of tables and a great selection of beers ales lagers etc. Decent and reasonable wines and you can eat in the restaurant area which joins onto the bar area.
The food is very reasonably priced and is really good. Chicken curry was lovely as was the chilli the mince being superb!! I also had a great steak and chips which was a good portion and cooked perfectly plus onion rings, tomato and a field mushroom. Chips were absolutely lovely!! All in all very tasty.
The staff were really friendly and once you ordered arrived really promptly. Serving staff were amazing with speed and a happy disposition. Bar staff pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was varied and well cooked with portions that were just right. Lovely staff as well.
Overall really good value hotel and food superb. Yep some minor issues i.e. Shower etc but it didn't detract from a great stay. Would definitely go back again.

My family and I stayed at this pub just last week. The pub food was delicious and the breakfast that they offered was a full breakfast and tasted good. The staff were super helpful and nice. However, the amenities themselves were poor, the bed I slept on was covered in dark black hairs and the bathroom in our room was not pleasant.The pillows were hard and the beds had springs that dug into your back. The glass panel that covered the shower did not function well so water sprayed all over the floor every time we used it. It was also super easy to hear other guests with their televisions on and it is a pub so you will hear sounds coming from outside, especially if Wales is playing.
They did not replace the mugs we used for tea in the room with clean ones during our three nights there. In addition, despite advertising free wi-fi the wi-fi was unaccessible in our rooms during the entire stay and often in the main bar as well when we tried to go downstairs to get a signal. Overall, I had mixed feelings about the place, we wouldn't return there but I would recommend it as a place to eat in the town.

We stopped in The White Lion for an evening meal. The place was lively with lots of locals and very friendly. The young staff were pleasant and keen to please. Nice setting and good décor. Good value food and lots of it!
