What People are saying

Nice place to stay

Tina J on 12/06/2017 23:36

We arrived on Friday and checked in. We were so surprised to see that we had a kitchen and that the rooms were a nice size.
I couldn't get the tv to work and it was late so I watched the tv in the bedroom. I went Saturday morning to the office and the lady there came in and fixed it for me.
It was a little noisy during the night but not bad enough I couldn't sleep.
I would definitely stay here again.

I'd Stay Here Again

The price can't be beat. We got a coffee maker. Everything else you'll need to provide. Be careful of your keys--but we had no problem. We liked the location--across the street from the local Arts Council. Next time there'll be a Wegmans within walking distance.. .

NOT a fully furnished "short-term apt"

Rateyjane on 29/05/2016 06:13

I will start by saying I do not think the manager Ashley is the problem. She was pleasant and really tried hard within the constraints of the corporate rules to work with us. SO. We frequently stay in corporate-type hotels/motels/short term apts because of some dietary constraints that make cooking for ourselves easier and safer than eating at unknown eateries. I have never thought to ask whether a "fully furnished kitchen" would include eating and cook ware. The kitchen was BARE. When I called down to Ashley, she said that fully furnished meant it had a stove and fridge, and I could "rent" the dishes and cookware! Quite a bind when we were recently arrived and due to attend a wedding rehearsal event in an hour. So much for whipping up something quick to eat. At least the fridge was already cold so we could put the food in there. Other missing basics: no toaster/oven, no coffee maker; no hair dryer (in 2016!) - I haven't traveled with a hair dryer in several decades! They are always provided. I had to go out and buy one the morning of the wedding! No hangers in the closet (Ashley brought some up). No ironing board or iron. (Ashley told me I could find them in the downstairs laundry room.) Found the iron, no board. Highly inconvenient for ironing and getting dressed in an efficient manner. I usually iron dress clothes after my shower just before putting them on. This place is billed as a smoke free PROPERTY. But there is an abundance of clay pot ashtrays on upper and lower corridors, along with a sitting bench and ashtray at the top of each stairway. There is no sign on the door saying smoke-free room, and indeed, it was not. Clearly people had smoked in the room, and while the room was clean and well maintained, it had not been 'desmoked' - indicating that smoking is a regular thing at that property. If you want a cheap, clean place with a little more space that a basic motel, this will do just fine. We found the bed/pillows and couch quite comfortable. Bathroom small, clean, with a decent shower. But realize that unless you rent equipment or bring your own, you will be rewarming take-out in the microwave if you are using the kitchen at all. Definitely NOT a "corporate apt" for short term stays.

Things you need to go before staying here

WinchesterVirginia on 08/09/2015 01:02

I was excited to find a place for 2 nights on Labor Day weekend in the Charlottesville vicinity, that had a kitchen. The website looked good, so we booked. It states fully furnished kitchen. I've stayed numerous places, and that normally includes at least a coffee maker. But since there is a full kitchen (stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator), NORMALLY that includes at least service for 2 of dishware. SO not the case. There weren't even paper towels provided, much less any type of utensils. So that was major strike 1 and 2 (no coffee maker/no utensils in a fully furnished suite as per their website description). Their fully furnished suites description on their website is very misleading, and even after negative reviews from this summer, management still has not updated their website (which I saw of course after I arrived!). Additionally, the pillows - OMG! I am not one to complain about how hard/soft mattresses are and pillows, but this was ridiculous. My husband and I tent camp, and our tiny Coleman pillows we use for camping, have more fluff than these ridiculous things. We literally folded them in half, and were so uncomfortable, we barely slept night # 1. We literally were pondering getting the bath towels and folding them for pillows, it was THAT bad! We went to the nearby Dollar General the next morning and BOUGHT 2 pillows! We at least had a decent night sleep night #2.
For places like this, if it was CLEARLY indicated on their website of what WAS and WAS NOT included, then I wouldn't be so upset. When I'm not aware, and have to go BUY what I have at home, but was expecting to be provided in "fully furnished", then that make me upset. The place was very clean, great location to UVA/downtown. There was no management on site from the time we arrived until we left, so thank goodness we didn't have any issues or need to call their emergency #. Take these things into consideration before booking here. If you can take your own dishes/basics, then it's fine. Don't expect it to be provided. No where did I see an option to add on kitchen amenities when I booked either. Take everything you need if you plan to stay here, as it is NOT provided! No blow dryer, coffee maker, the basics.

Adequate

Jackie L on 18/08/2015 01:30

The suite was clean but smelled of smoke. You aren't allowed to smoke in the rooms but the outside ashtrays are in front of the rooms and the smell comes inside. The pillows were horrible (bring your own if you can) and the fitted bottom sheet on the bed did not have deep enough pockets. The sheet would pull off when anyone moved and you ended up sleeping on the plastic wrapped around the mattress. There is no one around after 7:00 p.m. and the office is closed on Sundays. We were told there is an emergency number but were informed it would take them 30 minutes to get back if needed. We were visiting Monticello and the surrounding area and it's a good base. There is a full size kitchen, microwave and small oven but you have to bring everything if you want to use it. I'm not sure if we would stay there again but it was a decent price and ok for what we needed.
