This small place is pure Nirvana. We'd flown into Christchurch, drove to Akaroa, and received a warm welcome from Felicity. It is people like her that made us fall in love with New Zealand. Our one regret was that we did not arrange to stay longer in Akaroa. Our room was fabulous with a jaw-dropping view. The kitchenette was handy, and there is a grocery store that is less than 5 minutes walking distance. The restaurant that is on the harbor (La Maison?) was lovely. Be sure to visit the War Memorial that is next to the motel in a small park. Truly - this was such a restful place.

This motel is a gem. The price was very reasonable, the location was right in town and close to the water, the room was spacious and clean and the owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

We rang to make our booking and the owner was really friendly and helpful and also accommodating, as we were travelling with our preschooler and baby. The mid level room was really spacious, with good quality beds and linen, and warm and modern. It was also spotlessly clean. Excellent location - within walking distance to so many eating places and bonus to be near kids playground and four square grocery store. Very impressed and would definitely stay here again

Friendly staff, absolutely perfect tidy room, new furnitures and great views through window.The location is pefect like close to isite(information centre) and supermarket. Definitely come back again and strongly recommend.

First time in Akaroa and our welcome at the Criterion was very warm and friendly. Lovely spacious room, clean, every thing we needed. Great view of the water. Close to resturants and bars. Breakfast next door at the little bakery a must. Would love to make it back one day.
