The absence of cars and motorbikes have made the Gili islands a very pleasant getaway. Transport around the island is either by horse drawn carriages called cidomo, by bicycle or on foot. A walk around the whole island takes a few hours slowing to a calm pace away from the modern world hearing the surf of the sea or the tinkling of cidomo bells.
