What People are saying

A Fabulous Stay!

Stella T on 14/10/2017 21:57

This hotel is a jewel! The location was beautiful overlooking the town of Asolo. The staff was so friendly and responsive to making our trip awesome. I asked that I be spoken to in Italian and Silvia and Elena, the owners and all the staff, were so patient and assisted me as I stumbled through the language. The room was beautiful and spacious (room 101). We ate every night (4) at the hotel restaurant because the service and food were great. The wines that were suggested by Elena were exquisite! Overall, I recommend this hotel without any reservation and we will return if we are in this part of Italy.

Our visit to Asolo

Very friendly staff and owners. Always happy to chat and help out with recommendations on our trips around the area. We took three dinners at the Albergo and were happy with the options and the wine list. The restaurant on the Saturday evening was fully booked (we had booked 2 months in advance) so the hotel booked us into the Due Mori in the town (see separate review but was absolutely wonderful with a mega quality winelist). Car parking is convenient, just behind the hotel up a quiet one-way lane and one can park the car in front of the hotel on arrival/departure for luggage. Breakfast at the hotel was of good standard also. Asolo is a gem of a town. Just be aware on arriving that there is a traffic light system that allows for alternate one-way entry/departure up Via Robert Browning as the streets are narrow. Clientele are a good mix (there were a few other Australians there at the same time as us), this is not a stuffy/arrogant hotel whatsoever and always purveys a friendly nature.

B guests

One night at Albergo al sole made me feel uncomfortable, as if I was not up to their prestige.
Weird.
The point is that their prestige today is doubtful from my experience. You can still smell the heritage and past glamour, but through a rather dusty veil and the staff doesn't seem very concerned about guests who are not Eleonora Duse in person or American vips. We were just a mid aged couple of Italians from Milan who got a pre-payed rate for a standard room.

I booked one night quite last minute as my husband had to attend two events at Pordenonelegge, I chose Asolo and this hotel, 90km away, because although I got a degree in architecture in Venice I never visited this beautiful area, it was something missing. I had high expectations about this hotel from being in the selection of Tablet and SLH, I also booked a table at the in-house restaurant for the dinner knowing that in Asolo there are also other gourmet venues.
We were obliged to change our plans and arrived at 9pm - hotel was informed hours before - very very tired and under the rain. We were welcomed by a young lady at the desk who was very preoccupied about how we parked the car, of us being late for the dinner, of telling us that the check out the day after was at 11am. My husband had to go outside again under the rain to move the car 1m to the left. Nobody helped us with the luggage, they just gave us the keys and told us to go to the first floor. The room was small, with short ceiling, tired furniture, facing a narrow street, but with a quite large bathroom to compensate. I called the lady at the reception to check if there were other rooms available, she was a bit upset and she proposed one at the ground floor near the restaurant, she was not able to show it to me as her magnetic key was not working, anyway I understood that it was the same of ours but with worse location, so we kept ours. One sentence anyway was repeated twice by the nervous lady: 'You only booked a pre-payed standard room, this is what you can get, nothing more, maybe on the website you saw higher type rooms, or suites'.
She didn't say we are fully booked sorry, or propose us to upgrade our booking (paying of course), she just underlined twice that we were not A list guests.
I was really surprised, we took it with irony and spent the rest of the evening laughing between us about being B list guests.
The dinner was mediocre, menu and dishes right from the 90s, but the service here was warm. Breakfast too was quite limited and nothing special. Overall the hotel is in need of a new refurbishment as the last one is clearly from 30 years ago and you can see it.
Our poor rate was 257€ and the restaurant was 100€ (actually not expensive), so be aware that with a 350€ budget per day this is the treatment you may receive at Albergo del sole.

Fantastic hospitality, amazing location, great food

We stayed at Albergo al Sole in June for our wedding weekend. Last year we made our first trip to Asolo to look at hotels for our guest and fell in love with Albergo al Sole from the moment we walked in. Great first impressions. The owners gave us a warm welcome and even without a prior appointment took the time to show us around and tell us about the hotel. Until the weekend they were great with helping with any questions we had as well as the booking and dinners we wanted to host.

The hotel was entirely booked for our guest the first weekend of June. Silvia and Elena and their staff really went above and beyond to make sure we had a magical weekend. Staff was always smiling and helpful with any questions or request we had during our stay. All guest were super happy and loved the location.

The central location of the hotel is fantastic, creating a unique setting overlooking the main square. We stayed in one of the Junior Suites overlooking the square with a small balcony. Every morning one would automatically walk to the window to have a look at the view. The room was spacious with a large bathroom and air-condition. The rooms might not be the most modern but it certainly adds to the charm of the old town and the history of the hotel.

The restaurant offers a variety of local specialties, presented in a modern and refined manner. The eating experience is not only one you make with your mouth but also with your eyes! Local food also means seasonal vegetables and fruits, and therefore more authentic and tasty dishes as well as more health-conscious choices. Great wine selection too!

Overall amazing experience and are look forward to go back next year for our anniversary :)

Here for two nights and could not have been happier. From check in through check out everything was first class. The food both at breakfast and the one dinner at the hotel was terrific . The staff was even better. They could not do enough to ensure your satisfaction. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
