Stayed in Lucca at this beautiful boutique hotel for four days, it was lovely, our room was big with a sofa, table and chair, flat screen TV, bar fridge and safe. The receptionists were very helpful with restaurant and train info and spoke excellent English.
The bathroom had complimentary robes and slippers and delicious smelling toiletries. The shower had two waterfall heads and two hand held showers, really helpful if you have kids OR very romantic depending on who you're with!!!!
There was a bar downstairs for coffees and night caps and the breakfast room was full of everything you could possibly want to eat from cereal to cakes and fresh meat and cheeses as well as fresh fruit and yoghurts.
The only downsides were the bar was limited, and they didn't serve lunches. That said there was a fabulous fish restaurant next door and although the menu was in Italian, the waitresses were so helpful and spoke great English.
It was about a 10-15 walk into the walled city with great walks along the wall, fab place to people watch!
The station was also a 15 walk and the train to Florence was air conditioned and about 1hr 50 minutes.
Overall a great stay and highly recommend the hotel and Lucca. Will definitely go back again.

Four of us just returned from a tour of Italy. The Albergo Celide was the nicest hotel we stayed at. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the roof garden in the afternoon and a nice breakfast buffet each morning. The staff was very helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations and went out of their way to help us schedule a tour and offer the use of bikes on a number of occassions. We used the free bikes to bike the wall, bike through town, and bike to our tour pick up. They continue to offer outstanding service as they are helping us with shipping a forgotten item back to the states. We would definitely return.

2 days in lucca.we booked a small room and it was indeed small.so would recommend a larger one.overall clean good hotel .plenty of parking.breakfast excellent.bikes available for free which was great. Bar limited.did not see anyone in there but great bar next door. Lucca wonderful...

Last week we spent 3 nights at the Albergo Celide which is conveniently located a short
walk or cycle ride from the old town of Lucca, just outside the city walls.
Our room at the hotel was compact as booked but very comfortable and clean.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful with everything but apart from the beautiful
weather at 28- 30 degrees the highlight of the trip for me were the hotel bicycles which
the hotel guests can borrow at no charge, a great perk at this hotel.
A relaxing cycle ride around the perimeter of the city on the city wall is great fun.
The town of Lucca is delightful with its narrow streets and numerous attractions as
well as some beautiful churches. The restaurants and cafes all offer a wide range of
food and in all cases the beer and house wines were delightful.
If you haven't visited before you must go its a great experience.
We look forward to returning in the not to distant future.

We stayed two nights here and were happy with everything about it. Meals in both the restaurant and cafe both proved excellent in terms of food, service and value. The bicycles were kind of chic and in very good condition for pleasure riding (the outer wall of Lucca was fun, as well as the interior streets). We used the surprisingly nice sauna as well. The best way to utilize that is through coordination with staff--we arranged for a short massage after the sauna, which worked out especially well (and seems to be the manner preferred by the hotel, natch).
