So my bro and I were trying to find a hostel in Cadiz but they were all booked up. I saw this availability for the HI in Chipiona and even though it didnt have any reviews- I thought- why not?
Well, first from sevilla you have to catch the bus or train to Cadiz which is about 1.5-2 hours. Then when you get to the bus station there is no time table of when the busses leave to Chipiona. The person working in the bus station (and I speak fluent Espanol) just says to wait for the Amarillos line. We got there at 2:30pm and waited til 4:30pm when the bus arrived. Took another 2 hours and we finally got to Chipiona. Outside of the bus station there are no taxis and so we decide to walk it. Takes about 20 mins but when carrying your backpack it feels much longer.
Ok the hostel: very clean, very typical of HI. Largest room I'd been in and would probably accommodate up to 14 ppl in a different hostel. A/c was awesome and so were the hot showers. Free breakfast included. The front doors of the hostel are steps away from the beach (which isn't as crowded as some of the other beaches on south Spain).
Conclusion: if you are up for an off the beaten path adventure and don't mind the distance, try out the hostel and see for yourself what a hidden gem Chipiona is.
Downside: wifi only in common area, you have to pay for wifi in your room and the usual sterileness that is HI hostels.
