Located right by the historic Harvey House is a fabulous place to dress up or down and enjoy home style New Mexican Food. We take our out of town guests here often

We asked the desk clerk at the hotel for a recommendation for a place to eat in Belen and she said Pete's was her favorite place in town. The decor and environment were very decent considering this is a small town. Menu was pretty much New Mexico style Mexican food and burgers. I had a taco, enchilada, chile relleno combination plate and my wife had an enchilada plate with rice/beans. Food was OK but certainly not in the top quartile of places we have been. The red enchilada sauce was spicy and did have some good flavor. The chili relleno looked like it had been rolled in some bread crumbs and then fried a bit. The taco was nondescript using a pre-made shell and ground beef. The rice was spicy which is not typical. We were there early so had no issues being seated or with service. By the time we left parking lot and restaurant was filling up so apparently it is popular with the locals. Don't know that you will do better in Belen but we would not make a special trip out of our way to come back.

Visited historic Harvey House and ate here. Nice place, great food and service. Would recommend highly.

I travel lots and this fine family owned restaurant was excellent... Having never been here before I asked the docents at the Fred Harvey museum what to eat... They directed is here...

Not Mexican food, not TexMex food, but great New Mexican food. Our wait staff was great, prompt and curteous service. Only complaint was the $1.50 charge for a side of "red," which was horrid, and usually when you get "green" the "red" is gratus.
