Not the 4* we expected
LindsayCurtison 04/11/2017 10:44We read the reviews and picked this hotel over a large chain hotel based on them and it's location to who we were visiting. On arrival it's far from the 4* we expected. The photos online are far more flattering than the reality. It's trying hard but lacks finesse. The finishes of lots of cream pleather, plastic, and cheap wood veneers give a distinctly tacky dated feel to the rooms. Bathroom tiles were broken and the bedroom wall had stains that looked like damp. The rooms to be fair are spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was unbearably hot, we barely slept despite opening windows. You can hear people clearly in the other rooms so not much privacy. The breakfast was adequate but everything felt low budget and out of a packet. We didn't leave as it was just one night and we didn't have time to find an alternative. It was at least clean enough to live with. If you're happy with cheap and tacky decor and budget cafe style breakfasts you'll probably love it. If you're looking for something with class and finesse this isn't the place for you. Tea and coffee facilities are provided...next to a shot glass containing ear cotton buds! We could have stayed in a 4* hotel for only a couple of pounds more. Wish we had. In summary - clean with friendly staff but with a budget cheap feel that doesn't match the not so budget room rate.

Gareth Jon 24/10/2017 19:31My single room was spotlessly clean-small-l but with everything necessary for a short stay Large shower room with Soap ,Shampoo and Conditioner--lovely fluffy towels, A welcome tray with tea,cofee etc. is available. The breakfast was outstanding -freshly cooked to order with top quality local ingredients. Congratulations to the owner who made me and as far as I could tell all the other guests (the house was Full) most welcome.

SNicholason 03/10/2017 17:57A good one night stop over and regularly used by parents with children at the University. Simple but clean rooms with tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was a bit dated and it was a little noisy on the street front overnight. Excellent breakfast and a welcoming and friendly owner.
Comfortable stay
Spanishsalon 01/10/2017 10:34We cannot rate this hotel highly enough. The room was lovely, with little touches like a cafetiere with coffee. Beds are really comfortable, staff amazing - very friendly. The breakfast is out of this world and fantastically presented. We will definitely be back.

Its an older style hotel, but dont let this put you off.
Its good value for money and has friendly staff, breakfast is also nice.
I would stay there again when I am next in town
