We were fortunate to spend Sunday night of Winona State University's homecoming weekend at the Alexander Mansion B + B. Without a doubt, this is the most luxurious accommodation we have experienced in all of our worldly traveling. Richard is the ultimate host. He loves having guests and anticipates and takes care of their every need. We stayed in Maude's room and enjoyed the wine reception and bountiful breakfast with 8 additional guests. All of the guests were fun to talk to and be with. Winona is truly a wonderful town to visit, but the Alexander Mansion B + B fits into a class of elegance by itself. Once you've experienced the luxury at this B + B, nothing else will do.

Richard could teach a master class on running a B and B. It's as if he recognizes everyone's idealized view of staying in a bed and breakfast and incorporates those features into guests' experiences. There's wine in the evening with other guests, there's the tour of the beautiful house, there's the Bailey's and chocolate night cap, etc... I was only in town for one night and had to check out early for a business event. Since breakfast is served at 9:00, Richard made sure I had a light breakfast of homemade banana bread, juice, and coffee (including my second cup in a to-go cup so I could take it with me). It was all excellent. My room (Mary's Room) was very comfortable. I would honestly go explore Winona for a few days just for the opportunity to stay here again.

My husband and I just spent a fabulous weekend staying in Mary's room. The B&B is a meticulously maintained Victorian home. Richard the owner and host is gracious, leaving no detail overlooked, providing small little touches which add up to a wonderful experience. Be prepared to have a delicious multi-course breakfast served with all the guests together which gives you a chance to linger and enjoy the company. The house is spotlessly cleaned. We would highly recommend it.

Owner and host Richard, makes it a top priority to introduce guests to each other, thereby creating a wonderful atmosphere in the Inn that everyone enjoys. And his breakfasts have multi-courses with everyone at the same table- which makes for good conversation.

Every detail was impeccable! I had to change my previous reservation and Richard was so understanding and accommodating. I clearly did not know what to expect and we were blown away. The home is beautiful and Richard makes you feel right at home. Loved the Library and wine service. The night cap was such a pleasant surprise. My daughter stayed with me and we were in the lower cottage room. We loved the kitchen and truly loved interacting with all the guests. Richard goes out of his way with recommendations for dining and places to visit. Oh- and most importantly, the breakfast was a culinary delight. Delicious and every detail was special. The ice cream sundae was such a treat. We hope to be regulars while our daughter is in school!!!
