Very nice hotel, nice and comfertable, stayed in a double room , good hot shower , very nice staff, didnt eat in we went to a local indian , had breakfast in the morning , very nice would deffo stop thete again , parking was across the road so ideal , all in all brill

We had seen the hotel on "Booking.com" but had decided not to book and drive to Cockermouth and take a chance on availability. As soon as we went in, the staff were extremely friendly. I advised that I had seen the room at a reduced price and they said we could have it for the same price. They gave us a room on the ground floor with a door leading to the courtyard so Sadie (the dog) could go out whenever she wanted. The room was very spacious, queen sized bed and all facilities were great. The room where guests with dogs had their breakfast was beautiful - an Alice in Wonderland theme. Service was excellent. Sadie (our dog) is quite an anxious dog but she was very relaxed and the staff were wonderful with her. I would definitely go back to this hotel and have recommended to friends who have dogs. The hotel is situated in the centre of the town close to the river where there is a lovely park area, perfect for dog walking.

We had a family room at the front of the hotel which was very spacious. It is a very old building with lots of character. The bathroom would benefit from some modernising. We were made very welcome, especially with our dog. The staff were very kind and made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent.

Came in for a quick spot of lunch, best thing was that our dogs were made to feel welcome.
we ordered toasted sandwiches and soup. all tasty enough but nothing amazing. The soup was thick and warming, it would have been better served with a roll and butter.
Staff all friendly.

The room was excellent, large clean and warm. Also dog friendly. Our ground floor room had a door to a small court yard which was useful having dog with us. The staff were very helpful and friendly and obviously genuine dog lovers. The breakfast was great and set us up for the day ahead. Great value for money and would definately stay here again. On the edge of the Lake District its an ideal location if you want to do some lake trips, access to pubs, restaurants and shops and not want to pay the high tourist rates the Lake District hotels charge
