My husband and I have been staying here for years. We always rent one of the cottages and have never been disappointed. Nan & Gerald (owners) are wonderful and have thought about everything. The cottages even have umbrellas and bug spray for the wet FL weather! The cottages include Continental breakfast in the room but we always pay the extra and have the breakfast in the main house. Nan is a wonderful cook and the breakfasts are varied, large and filling. They are about a 15 minutes drive to downtown Deland where there are lots of great restaurants and shops. If you are looking for a small quaint place, this is it.

My husband and I stayed at the Alling BnB when we visited Orange City for a historical event. The room we were in was very comfortable with a four poster bed. The wood floors and wood furniture were scrumptious--so unusual for Florida homes. But the historic charm of decor and spirit won our hearts. We loved the hosts and wanted to hang around to play the piano and sit on the porch swing!

The owners of Alling House have truly thought of everything. We stayed here as a short getaway for our anniversary and were very pleased with our choice. The room was nicely appointed, the breakfasts were terrific, and the grounds are peaceful. Anything you might need, they will have. Cold waters and beverages, candy, ice cream, a spare toothbrush already waiting in the room. I am a total sheet snob and their sheets were incredibly soft. We also enjoyed talking with our hosts over breakfast each morning. The Alling House is nicely located near the springs, downtown Deland (which is super cute), and the town of Cassadaga.

I Stayed 2 nights in the Green Room which was well appointed. It was quiet, clean and the large shower a plus! This B&B is a real gem and one I would recommend. No detail spared... chocolates & candy. movies, a fridge with water & cold drinks at no charge and room to keep some personal items cold - just like home!
The breakfast(s) were delicious with fresh fruits, homemade cupcakes, eggs Benedict one day and potato/egg casserole another. Owners spared nothing! Gerald and his wife were most attentive and told us about their B&B, as well as the area and activities or places we could visit each day. It was like staying at a friends!

Stayed 2 nights w/my 88 yr-old Ma and friends. We went to the area to visit the Blue Springs, which I hadn't visited since I was a child.
The "Railroad Cottage" was perfect, in the back of the property -such a quiet respite from city life, as it had a lovely view of the beautiful and meticulously tended grounds, including a perfectly placed gazebo, which we enjoyed under the starry-night sky, and the full moon.
By day, were fortunate to be visited by a large owl, and a cardinal.
The innkeepers have outfitted the cottages w/ an extra-ordinary attention to detail. Since we all slept in, due to wonderful night's sleep, we missed Nan's so well-reviewed breakfast, which I look forward to if and when we get a chance to return: hopefully can take up one of my nature-loving siblings who will be thrilled w/the place, as well as with w/the St. John's riverboat tour where we saw the Blue Herons, among other beauteous wildlife, and then took a refreshing and memorable dip in the Springs.
Thank-you for such a magical time. Sorry was late showering, and set you back w/ a slightly late check-out; I apologize for the inconvenience, next time will be more conscientious!
