Beautiful quiet setting

This was our 2nd time here. It was the only place I found that didn't require a 3-night stay (we only needed one night) and did not price-gouge for the Labor Day weekend. It is just on the outskirts of Duluth as you come down the hill from I-35 so there is a slight view of the St Louis River basin, and right next to Keene Creek which was flowing nicely after lots of summer rains, although you can not see it from the property, there is a nice view from the road. There is a nice sitting area in front and also in back, which deer and bear frequently visit. The room itself is a little worn and outdated but for a quick overnight stay it was fine. It's a "mom and pop" type motel so don't expect much, it doe have cable tv and wi-fi!
ok for price but wouldn't go back

The Allyndale is one of the cheaper extended stay motels in the area, with that being said, you get what you pay for. The outdoor area behind the motel has chairs and a fire pit which is nice. There is a nice sized creek on one side that if you can find your way down to is worth seeing. The ladies that run the office are nice and it was a good place to stay because we had a dog with us. The downside to bringing the dog there is that you can't leave the dog in the room unattended , ever, not even in a crate. That part is sort of a hassle but it's the price you pay when you have a pet and have to follow someone else's rules. The room itself was clean, bed was hard, furniture dated 70s/80s. The basics are there but not somewhere you would want to stay more than a day or two. very dark and damp feeling.
VERY DISSAPOINTED

The place is run down, then the owner tired to blame us and charge us for his worn out faulty equipment. The room was very small. His charges and the room charges were very expensive for the type and condition of the hotel. There is no breakfast or even coffee available. A vending machine with some candy was all that was offered. He had a hard time hearing, and was very hard to communicate with, and mixed up our dates, causing us to have to find another place before we were ready to leave. It looks like a budget hotel but they charge non budget prices. They claim they have wi fi and internet, but they do not, or if they do it never worked. The phone only worked sometimes. The bed was old and saggy.
Hidden gem in Duluth

We stayed at the Allyndale for a climbing festival in Duluth. This motel is a bit out of the way, farther south in Duluth than some of the "name" hotels. While a bit dated, the place was clean and neat, everything worked, and the price was reasonable. For the three of us we got a suite with a kitchen, a separate bedroom with queen and double beds, and a third queen bed in the living area, which also had a stuffed chair, a couch, dresser, big TV, etc. Warm, dry, shower worked fine. My only complaint is that the free wi-fi was slow. Not the worst thing that could happen. Quiet at night, and the fun spots in downtown Duluth are readily accessible (we timed as 10 minutes drive - in a snowstorm). I'd definitely stay again.
Nice place

We stayed in this hotel while my husband was working in the area. We had a kitchenette room which is great so you don't have to eat out every night. The area is quiet but close to everything. The staff is wonderful and treated us well. We would stay here again!
