Friendly staff at a quaint location
kdr331on 19/09/2017 00:49We spent one night here on our way to Maryland. Much better then an ordinary hotel and the pub, The Underside was a nice respite after a long ride. Food was good and beer was cold. The band was fun. Staff was friendly. Interesting history. Definitely worth visiting.
Delicious cocktails; great rntrees
Lyn Non 21/08/2017 22:31We are here on a Sunday afternoon. The cocktail menu had some great drinks. Everything we tried we liked - the spiked root beer, the mangotini, the pineapple upside down cocktail and the very berry mules! All super good. We had a dozen chef's choice oysters. Not the best job shucking, but they were delicious. The entrees were all good too. Crab cakes were good, the zucchini noodle bowl was delicious, the tuna I got with it was a bit over cooked and unseasoned but okay. We were stuffed, but our waitress talked us into some desserts. The peanut butter pie (shared by most of the table) was heaven. Tasted like pb fudge. The creme brûlée was not great. The custard was too eggy and unsweetened. The sugar topping was nicely crisped though. The coffee presentation was impressive. It came with what looked like a board for a whiskey flight. On it were 4 glasses containing a cinnamon stick, chocolate chips, real cream and whipped cream. Definitely the most unique presentation of coffee I've ever seen. 👍🏻👍🏻. Hubby drinks his coffee black, but we made good use of the chocolate chips and whipped cream on our desserts!
Excellent lunch
Isabel Pon 12/08/2017 18:58Enjoyed the atmosphere, historical building, and great food. The lunch special, sandwich/soup is excellent. Onion soup great! Reasonably priced. They offer local brew for one to enjoy.
Great find while traveling through the area on 30.
Quaint, cozy and romantic
love4connoron 09/08/2017 17:30I booked a room here for my husband, myself and teenage son while we visited Gettysburg. I chose this place because it looked quaint and cozy, had an attached restaurant and was a great price. This place may be better suited for couples trying to have a romantic getaway, but I really wanted to check it out. When arriving, it's kind of confusing where you check in. You enter through the main door which leads to the restaurant. There may or may not be someone standing there. I noticed that after I checked in, it was harder to find someone standing there. I did, however, check in closer to the restaurant closing so maybe that's why. There is a separate entry to the left of the main door for guests staying at the inn. You can go in and out at all hours via that door. The inn is located above the restaurant and the stairway and going up definitely needs to be redone. The carpeting is old in the hallways and on the stairways. There is a cute little reading nook at the end of the hallway on the 2nd floor. They even have some books for you to borrow. The room itself had 2 queen beds. You actually need a step stool to get into them. I am 5' 5" and needed one. They are realllllly high beds. The bedroom area was nicely remodeled. There was a desk, fridge, micro, tv (on the smaller side) and 2 sitting areas. It was very quaint and cozy hence why I thought this would be perfect for a romantic getaway. For one night though it worked out great for our family of 3. The only things about the room that I didn't like was the bathroom hadn't really been remodeled. The sink and cabinet looked new but the tub and floor was not. The tile was even falling apart. The ceilings....don't look up. They were very dirty. I think someone needs to dust them. I was lying in bed and looked up and it was kind of gross with all of the filth up there. I could look past the 2 negatives though because the room really was quite nice otherwise. They serve continental breakfast in the restaurant. They had pastries, breads, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice and milk. Nothing fancy, but it'll fill you up. I would also recommend having dinner in the restaurant. They have hands down the best meatloaf and crab cakes. I wish I could remember our waiters name, but it was at the beginning of a road trip and I have forgotten it. He was really nice and worked hard. I'm not sure why this place doesn't have more reviews. I'm really surprised. Well, hopefully after reading this I have persuaded you to choose this Inn and the restaurant for your next trip to the area...or if you are already in the area.....a nice romantic weekend here.
Great food, Okay Hotel
Sydney Pon 19/06/2017 15:56Loved their menu and their food is delicious, but their hotel really needs to be updated. They state it's been newly renovated but new pillows does not mean renovated. Good sized rooms, broken/old items.
