Location was great, very handy for me with the tram, train and walking distance to many places. I loved the lounge area, used it a lot when family and friends came for a visit, great with the games, drinks, lollies etc. My room was lovely, all I needed, comfy bed, decent shower pressure, double windows, fresh air if when I needed it (not a fan of air cons). Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I even used the shoe shine at the entry.

GENERAL IMPRESSION Clean, Comfortable, Convenient to: SkyBus (from airport), free tram within Central Business District, pre-paid Breakfasts delicious with excellent, personal service. Friends also have stayed here with similar pleasing results.
FRONT DESK/ACCESS Helpful and Personable Service, Easy Check in and out.

PARKING Paid parking is an option, but public transportation is plentiful and convenient
NEARBY All of Central Melbourne is accessible by free trams if you stay within a defined area - front desk can give you a map. One of the free trams is immediately outside the hotel front door. Only half a block from the Skybus terminal used by airport-to-city buses. Ask front desk about nearby eating options.
OTHER HINTS In our shower area, preferred to use a small towel to counter some slipperiness.

Hotel ist situated in Central Melbourne. Outside the hotel you will find a tram stop which is a stop within the Melbourne Free Tram Zone in the city. The hotel is also very close for the "Skybus Melbourne City Express" from Melbourne City Southern Cross Station, Melbourne to Melbourn Airport Tullamarine. This is an excellent airport bus service.
We enjoyed our stay at the Alto Hotel on Bourke; on first evening we were given a complementary welcome drink by the Manager. The room was very clean and all the facilities present including a small kitchen, fridge and cookery plates etc as well as a very good free Wi-Fi service. The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of choice. All the staff were very frindly and very helpful. We can only recommend it any time!

My wife and I found the Alto Hotel on Bourke well located just a few minutes walk from the Melbourne SkyBus which connects to Tullamarine Airport. Right outside the hotel is the tram stop and trams are free in the city center area. We didn't do much right in the area of the Alto but just hopped a tram to where we wanted to go. We also appreciated that the hotel is doing a great job of being "green;" energy efficient.

I stayed here with my family in the king room. It had a king bed and a sofa bed (which I slept on). Upon reflection, if I had of known that the sofa bed had a mattress that you couldn’t sleep on, the doona cover was covered in yellow stains with no cover on it, I would’ve booked my own separate room. It was disgusting. It would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor and if there was room, I would have chosen that option! Absolutely unacceptable. In 2017 I am fairly certain that workplace heath and safely would not approv this room for anyone to sleep in, particularly as mentioned above a doona that clearly was stained from previous use.
