Nice hotel and spa

The hotel is only 50 m to the beach and the rooms are midern and nicely furnished. The seaview rooms get morning sun, the mountain view rooms have evening sun. The free spa is excellent and features a large indoor pool, jacuzzi, hamam and sauna. The hotel also has 2 outdoor pools with beach chairs.
The breakfast buffet is dusappointing : the restaurant is facing a wall and offers no view. The food is presented with no special care or decoration. We think the 10.300 rubles for a sea view room incl. breakfast is too high for May.
You easily reach the ptomenade and a few nice restaurants from here.
For Crimea good, but not european service yet...

First of all everyone should be ready to met "Crimea service" in Crimea. Unfortunately for many years of Ukranian idleness to find really good service in Crimea is a very difficult task. By husband's job we are living in Crimea for 1 year, so sometimes wish to spend week-end in some nice place with pool, saunas, restauransts and so on. For May's holidays we choose Riviera Sunrise for many reasons: in a past this was Radisson SAS hotel, it has good reviews, nice picktures, big territory, good SPA and aqua zones.
By the fact of spending 2 nights we had + and -.
Pluses:
- really good territory with open pools, not so big, but nice to walk and rest;
- nice furnitured rooms and lobbies;
- nice aqua zone with closed pool;
- good "GRilled" restaurant, but the meny is not very wide;
- nice breakfast with wide selection of dishes;
- nice rooms. Standart room is pretty nice;
- baby playing room with working hours 10 am - 8 pm.
But unfortunately there are a lot of minuses:
- not enought stuff in a hotel. Waiting for check-in long time. And even barmen in a lobby bar said there is a problem with a stuff. Sometimes (in most of cases in a low seasons) there is only 1 weiter in the restaurant, that all guests should wait for theirs orders very long time.
- DIRTY in a rooms! That is awfull! We found a lot of HAIRS on the floor after previous guests. Asked to clean the room. They do cleaning and after it we found the same. Of course after second cleaning Manager of the hotel give us LUX room for the second night. It was nice apologies, but in this lux room which is located on the last floor we found bad cleaning too. Balcony area is almost not cleaned. In and under the sofa we found pistachios and toy baby car;
- Restaurant is not big enough for breakfast. In a Hight season guests should wait for the free table... Also You will met big queue to the Coffee machine. Never before I saw such a problem to drink morning coffee as here...
- only 1 sauna and 1 steam sauna working in Aqua zone. Big hamam, rasul, 2 new saunas in SPA zone is opening only for extra paid SPA orders, You can visit only solt cave there, others relaxes zone are closed. Also near solt cave there is a jacussi. But this jacussi is very DIRTY inside!
- Very funny to read room description on the hotel's web site: "sanitary engineering by "Villeroy & Boch". By the fact in a Stundart, in a LUX rooms and lobby label is : "Devit".
But the tableware in a rooms and in the restaurant is by brand Villeroy and Boch.
As a result we wish to come back again because as I said before in Crimea it is a really problem to find something better...
LUX category of the room not luxe enough. You have only bigger room, second TV and bath. But the price of it 3 times more than Standart...
Great hotel waiting for the town to grow around it.

The last time I stayed in Alushta, it was in the old Radisson. Right next door they have now built a new hotel and spa, an ultra modern European style hotel with an amazing spa and pool.
The design is very welcoming and the staff are excellent, professional and good fun. There is a Swiss manager, Jonas, who did all he could to make our stay comfortable.
The restaurant food was excellent. In four days not one of our party of 3 had anything that could have been describe as mediocre.
The rooms are large and well furnished. The pillows didn't suit me too well, huge square things, but I was lazy and didn't ask for another. I would have been surprised if there weren't alternatives. The bathrooms are also very nicely laid out and as with the rest of the hotel, spotlessly clean.
The walls however were thin. It was easily possible to hear my neighbors chatting on the phone, or to hear their alarm clocks etc
There are nice balconies to all the rooms, but no chairs on them! If you can get a room facing the sea, I imagine that the view is very nice. The back of the hotel has a good view as well. The mountain bowl surrounding Alushta is beautiful, but there's no sun on this side until much later in the day.
A Soviet style hotel

The first thing the manager of this hotel should do is to train his staff in the basics of service-mindedness. Grumpy, unhelpful and generally seeming to hate their jobs barely describes it. And in my view that is totally unforgivable in a hotel. If you can live with that, the rooms are brand new and beautiful. But the whole experience was anyway unfortunately reminiscent of Soviet times. In the restaurant, they didn't have most of the items in the menu. Breakfast took forever to get, the bar didn´t even have beer and closed at 11. Room service was awful and on top of it all it was very expensive. I´m surprised Radisson even wants to put its brand on it.
Good choice

While I think Crimea is extremely expensive in comparison with Croatia and Greece, but this hotel is good quality, modern furniture, free wifi, friendly staff. Not sure price fit the infrastructure of Alushta, but itself it is good choice.
