I made reservations based on some of the good reviews...Also, no other vacancies were available at local motels. When we pulled up on our motorcycle, the place looked deserted. A filthy guy was behind the desk and said we could stay only if we had reservations. He found our reservation scribbled on a piece of paper because the owner had taken the ledger and it was preferred if I paid cash, $80. He told us his life story about his dispute with the owner but continues to work there. Our room was dusty and the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned (luckily I carry disinfecting wipes with me!). The towels were grey and grease stained. There were shoes under the bed and skin magazines in the drawer. On the upside, the bed was clean and comfortable. After buying our supper at the local grocery store, we sat outside our room and ate our dinner and had great entertainment. The guy behind the desk was racing around on his ATV, with no helmet or shoes, doing donuts in the parking lot. Not long after, the owner arrived and asked to see us to clarify the amount we had paid. Then the police showed up. We got the impression it wasn't the first time he had been there to settle a dispute with the employee and the owner. After the police left, the ATV was racing around again... When we went back inside to go to sleep, there was a baby mouse on the floor. I went to the front office to tell the owner, and she tried to accuse people of leaving the doors open and letting in the mice. It was so tiny, it could barely walk, so somewhere in that room was a nest, but we couldn't find it. The dirty guy removed it from our room. In the morning after a terrible night's sleep, worrying a mouse would join us in the bed, we woke up to no power. Apparently it was a scheduled town outage and we hadn't been previously informed about it. We got out of Dodge and didn't look back! We should have left right away, but had nowhere else to go.

Despite making reservations 1 month in advance and calling to confirm 2 days before - they were surprised by our arrival and asked if we had reservations. They had no record of us making reservations and had no rooms 'made up', even though it was 7 pm and the place looked deserted. After that initial experience, we did not stick around, so we stayed elsewhere. If I could give a zero star rating I would.

Im confused by the positive reviews of this motel. For the price of $80 +tax, my expectations were pretty standard. Clean sheets, un-used soap, a clean room lacking dead bugs, working heat.... All of which were lacking. To top it off, after getting the kids to sleep, people decided to start reving their dirt bikes after midnight at the back of the motel. It was a truly awful experience & leaves a bad taste for all roadside motels.

I'm truly baffled by the good reviews. I'm not hard to please, but the place smelled awful and for $79 it should be at least clean. I understand they allow pets and I've stayed in other hotels that also allow pets, but this one smelled of many pet issues and wasn't clean.

We stayed here 5 years ago, and came back this year due to pleasant memories. Although the ownership has changed, the motel has changed little. The room is perfectly comfortable, good sleeping, good bathroom. Clean! A very nice place for a night.
