This is a vegetarian hotel, but is a good choice even if you are not a vegetarian
Magenta56on 01/08/2017 13:04We didn't book this hotel but liked the look of it so we just walked in and enquired. It wasn't a expensive as I had anticipated from how it looked.
The hotel is set in large gardens and is away from the main road. There was plenty of parking.
The room was clean, bright and comfortable, some have mountain views.Tea and coffee are provided in the room, also fresh milk.
Although we are not vegetarians we enjoyed the cooked breakfast, there was also fruit, cereal, toast and croissants. The breakfast room was lovely overlooking the gardens.
We were warmly welcomed by the owner and her staff.
Great location friendly & helpful staff
jocularumon 04/10/2016 18:32Having stayed at the Yewfield on several occasions over the years and enjoyed their standards we were happy to stumble on Ambleside Lodge while looking for a last minute short break. No disappointments here! Similar in many ways to the Yewfield, standards ,food ,staff all very good. The air of relaxation pervades in the same way.
The association with Zeffirelli's and Fellini's and their nearby location is a bonus.
I was told by the staff (more like friends) that further improvements are to be made both internally and in the lovely gardens.
but don't tell anyone or we might not get in.
I have no doubt we will be back.
Simply fantastic ..

SheilaB1952on 25/11/2014 19:50Just stayed for 2 nights at the Ambleside Lodge, its our second visit there and we will definately be staying again.
Although it is not your Boutique Style Hotel, it is clean, welcoming and very warm and comfortable. Breakfast is one of the best we have had, lots of variety and cooked to perfection.
Will be going back soon.
A gem of a hotel
Stevenrlon 22/11/2014 04:55Paul the owner ensured our stay exceeded all our expectations in terms of accomodation and local restaurant options. Our large bedroom ( room 12 ) was very well furnished with fabulous views of the town and countryside. The breakfast was cooked to order and served in a pleasant dining room with an excellent choice of starters. No stupid DIY toasters here, fresh toast was provided rapidly on request! Large car park with a 5 minute walk into town centre. A hidden gem of a hotel ; we will return!
