My mother and I selected this hotel because it was on the NIH Shuttle route; not much positive to say about it. The rooms were small, and heat/AC was not working in my room (309). When I entered, I felt a draft as I approached the exterior wall. Reached up to find the window opened about 3 inches. After getting myself settled, I attempted to call Mom in her room (301) to set up our dinner. Tried twice with no answer...I went down only to find that the phone did not work. We went to the desk to request a shuttle to our restaurant choice. When the driver, John, finally responded he seemed put out at the prospect of driving us anywhere. I gave him the name and street address of the restaurant and was asked to put it into his GPS. When he got the wrong address, he argued with me over distance. I finally instructed him to just let us off at a different restaurant. We walked the short distance around the corner to get where we wanted to be. After a fine meal, I called for the shuttle to come for us. We walked to the original drop off point and began our wait. Ten minutes passed with no shuttle. I called, again, and was told, again, that John would be sent. The restaurant was only three minutes away. When our transport finally arrived, John performed a U-turn in a narrow roadway; repeated the same thing in a clearly signed "No U-turn" zone to get into the parking lot of the hotel. Icalled for wake-up calls and to report my mother's telephone issues. John was sent up and informed her that nothing could be done. I had issues with my television not getting signal. John came, knocked at the door, and stood against the hallway wall on his cell phone. I explained the problem and attempted to turn the set on. He did get the receiver fixed (it went out again overnight), but was not at all a friendly individual spending more time on his cell phone. As for the wake-up call...I asked for a 6:45 wake-up. The call came at 4:39 A.M. Mom got her call too...from me on her cell. Although the beds were comfortable and the desk staff were good. There was little else that will make me want to return on future NIH visits.

Stayed here for two weeks on a business trip. The room was nice and cosy but a bit too small. Maintenance is great and service is nice too. Everyone goes that bit further for providing comfort. I requested for a microwave which was provided readily. They have a complimentary drop to the Bethesda tube station in the mornings and is wonderful for office goers.
The complimentary breakfast is just awesome, lots of choices and tasty and fresh food.

I stayed at the hotel on 10/23 and 10/24. Found a bed bug in my bed in room 503. Hotel was sold out. I took the bug down in a Kleenex and they moved me to room 509. I got home two days later and my arms are covered with bites so obviously there is bugs in that room too. I was quite disappointed when I checked out and they only took $90 dollars off my bill instead of comping my whole stay. I would not recommend staying here.

I used to stay here regularly due to its proximity to the NIH (shuttle service to and from there), and downtown DC but at a better price than other hotels around there. It's a 10min walk to either Bethesda subway station, or the NIH metro station. A more recent stay here suggests things have gone downhill, unfortunately. Firstly, the price has increased ($333 for 2 nights) and the hotel has not been well maintained. The rooms vary in size, from tiny to very spacious (queen sized bed). The walls are really thin so can be noisy with loud aircon from own room also. There is a mini bar and coffee in the rooms and breakfast includes either hot breakfast, or porridge, toast, bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruit and juices. The prices are still more reasonable than other hotels around Bethesda and the DC area but the quality is declining, it seems.

First the good...The Staff was friendly...and there is free parking! Now THE BAD! We were on the third floor and the hall smelled bad...but NOT AS BAD as the hallway going out the back door! The bedroom floor could have either used a good cleaning or new carpet! The entire time we were there...there was NO AC. We asked about the AC and were told that it would not come on as it was too cold outside...funny the hall had AC and the LOBBY had AC...we were told by the maintenance personnel to "Open our windows." We had already opened them ALL NIGHT LONG AND IT WAS STILL TOO WARM to get a good night sleep. With opened windows we got to enjoy the sirens, loud cars and trucks...what was especially nice was the dumpsters being emptied at 4:00 AM! AND I DIDN'T EVEN REQUEST A WAKE UP CALL!
