What People are saying

Wonderful getaway

ben r on 15/11/2017 18:29

I stayed here a few years back with my partner. It is a cozy little inn run by two people. The general vibe of the Inn is 'Home Away From Home', if that home is a little dollhouse. The room was also just a cozy and it was perfect for just the two of us.

I wouldn't recommend it for a larger, louder group of people but if you are looking for a relaxed venue, located within walking distance of just about everything, this is your place. The owners are very knowledgeable of their city and can provide you with recommendations on places to eat or things to do if you need any suggestions.

We came and stayed in December and the entire front lobby was decorated beautifully; there was even a day for ol' St. Nick to stop by himself.

Please come by and stay for a cozy, relaxed place in St. Pete.

Great place to stay!

This inn is spotlessly clean. It is warm and inviting and despite its age has all the amenities. The manager is amazingly personable and attended to every request. When I asked where the ice was, he brought me an ice bucket complete with tongs. Breakfast was served with real dishes and silverware as opposed to disposables. It is more like a B&B because of the personal service and attention to detail. I highly recommend this establishment.

Convenient Location, Friendly Staff, Well Kept

fpuhan on 09/11/2017 11:58

I've always stayed outside downtown St. Petersburg, but my research found this little gem located in the heart of the city within walking distance of, well everything. The price was right, and it was for just one night, so I thought I'd give it a chance.

Short-cut to the end: I'll stay here again. Stephanie, who seems to be a one woman army, was warm, welcoming and friendly (she even suggested the restaurant where I ate dinner). The room and bed were comfy, although the TV was a bit wonky (it didn't get all the channels listed) and the A/C seemed to run all the time (although I didn't check the fan to see if that was adjustable). There is a "social" every evening from 5-7, where guests can have a glass of wine or a beer gratis, and a continental breakfast every morning.

Convenient, comfortable, affordable. Meets all my requirements!

So uncomfortable we left early

erojustice on 07/11/2017 22:47

This hotel was so uncomfortable we canceled our stay after the first night. The carpet was being replaced, which meant there were fumes and dust in the air. Why not just close? But more importantly, the bed was terrible. The mattress was very soft and compressed down to the box spring when we sat on it, and we could feel the springs when we lay down. The proprietor offered us another room with a slightly better bed, but it wasn't better enough to make staying worthwhile. Fortunately she was gracious enough to let us cancel our remaining night without penalty. The hotel does seem to be in a good location for walking to interesting restaurants and nightlife.

Warm Welcome at the Inn on Third

Ralph S on 06/11/2017 21:02

Stephanie and Brian Cox, long-time managers of the Inn on Third in downtown St. Petersburg, claim it is the cheapest place to stay. I don't know about that but my rate was comfortably around a hundred a night. They are friendly people and know their repeat guests, of which there are many. They remember personal needs and will help their guests with almost any need. They've lived in Germany and are fluent so many of their guests are German speaking. Although they claim it is historic, the Inn is a nondescript building painted yellow just around the corner from the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. Essentially it's in a parking lot. The location is great for access to downtown. We walked to the Mahaffey Theatre in fifteen minutes but we're fast walkers. Like, it seems, all the boutique hotels in St. Petersburg the rooms are small but the bathrooms are not tiny like many others. Unlike others they make no pretense of decorating the place. The rooms are furnished in what I call "Thrift Shop" but my partner reminded me that my room in my childhood home was probably similarly furnished. The place was generally clean although I did note that the bathroom floor needed a good scrubbing. They provide a simple continental breakfast.
