What People are saying

A motel in process of improvements

1970CAH on 18/05/2017 01:38

We were passing through area on a road trip and needed a place to sleep for about 8 hours. I was not keen on paying over $120 for nearby competitor (also what I consider economy type lodging), so we decided to try this place.
It is hard to sum up in a review as it was just an odd experience, so bear with me here.
The motel is set back from main road and a bit tricky to see access road after dark.
There were almost no cars in parking lot and we initially thought the place was closed--but no the open sign was lit. Most of parking lot was roped off as it was being resurfaced. They are in midst of remodel, so pictures shown on site are not accurate at this point. The lobby was completely barren and looked like it was recently painted and had new floor. It also had an odd smell that I think may have been related to renovation (floor adhesive???).
Our room had laminate floor, not carpeting as shown. Overall it did not look at all like other photos on site and I'm sorry to say I took no pictures but I will describe below: Many of fixtures and furnishings looked brand new: I am pretty sure the beds, pillows, all linens, curtains (both window and shower), and towels were all new. The phone was still partially in wrapper--plugged in but did not work (but hey--we all have cells now). The tub and shower surround also looked new and all walls had been recently painted though not very well--the paint jobs was sloppy with drips on trim and even on floor. Poor paint jobs seem to be a hallmark of economy class motels. The windows were new enough to still have stickers. The TV was also new and worked fine with cable TV (although I only had it on long enough to watch PBS news so I cannot speak to overall channel selection).
The linens were all perfectly clean and the bathroom was decently clean. The floor could have used a good scrub, but I am picky about floors. The hallway had slight cigarette smoke odor but the room was fine; they still offer smoking rooms here so that smell is probably going to inevitably drift into hallways.
The wifi seemed fine, but we used it very briefly. As I said, we were really just here to sleep.
The beds were firm and comfortable (if you like firm),
The in room AC was an older unit (one of few things that was obviously not updated). It had not been turned on prior to our arrival, so room was warm at first but did gradually cool down nicely.
There were no pictures on walls and motel lacked some fairly basic amenities such as a clock or bedside lamp pf any kind. The lighting was inadequate--overhead light in entry and a mismatched table lamp on desk. Overall the room felt unfinished.
My daughter met a spider in the bathroom, and she was very distressed by this, but we have spiders at home too, so I don't feel I can ding them for this.
There is no free breakfast, which is fine with me as I usually find the free breakfast in economy class hotels to be poor to inadequate.
But by far the most off-putting part of the whole experience was that we think that we were the only guests in the entire motel. There were 2 cars in lot--and we assumed the other car belonged to worker. This was mystifying as motel across freeway was packed (but now that I have seen the other reviews, I think I may understand the lack of patronage). It just felt very, very odd, and somehow less safe, to be only guests in motel.
I suspect the owners are trying to improve the motel and from other reviews it sounds like this was much needed. It is not there yet, but there are some promising signs...

Pet friendly?

Light fixtures loose and/or not working. Vodka sticker on picture above bed. Nonsmoking room requested, but came out smelling like smoke. If you are looking for fancy and/or clean, this is NOT the place. It has good bones: comfortable bed, fridge, microwave, lots of storage space. The father and son at front desk were very nice! Air conditioner worked PERFECTLY!!!!

Cons: No phone in room, several light fixtures broke and/or did not work. Loud neighbor (or visitor) banged on door down the hall and kept yelling HEY. I'm not sure if front desk took care of or person quieted down on his own by 11 PM. The ad I looked at online (via cell phone), I thought said free breakfast, free wifi, and free pets. No breakfast nor coffee. Free wifi, when it worked. Pets are ten dollars EACH. Also outside lights are turned OFF overnight. When I took dog and puppy out at 4 AM, I did NOT feel safe walking in unfamiliar area in darkness. Also, not good for people with a handicap and/or disability.

Worst place ever!

This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed at!

Cons - Towels were stained, sheets ripped, halls smelt badly, no free breakfast as advertised, and no one at the desk when we checked out! We were traveling with a dog, was told that it would be $10 extra per night, OK, no problem. When paying for my room with a credit card, lady at the desk told me that I would have to pay cash for the dog, because if they used my card it would charge tax. Then she hand wrote " $10.00 pet fee paid." SCAM! I would not stay here even if my life depended on it.

Pros - Large parking lot, easy to turn around large moving truck.

When checking out, no one was around. There was a note wrote on and envelope stating to put your room key in there and they would check you out when they came in. We left around 7:15 am.

This is by far the worst motel within miles of troy. It is run down and dirty. the wifi is limited so i had to use a hot spot the whole night. No coffee or ammenities and people running in the halls all night long.Very overpriced and towels were so stained up that we used our own. Pay a little more and get one of the nice motels in this town.

Few complaints

mackenzierobertson83 on 11/06/2016 00:24

Only complaint is that there was absolutely no coffee. It took me a few hours to find out how to turn the tv on. You have to flip a switch for it to work. Room is out dated and drawers are very dirty. Bed sheets were stained with blood and had to complain to get them changed.
