What People are saying

Great time

Diego_designs on 23/08/2016 21:09

This place was very accommodating the interior rooms were amazing! The old style sitting room on the first floor was great. It was next to the dining room where breakfast was served every morning! They also had fruit, baked goods, tea, coffee, and sherry - all complimentary! The detailing in this very old mansion was amazing, they had a sitting area right off the second floor double staircase. The grounds were secured with a security gate, they had a few tables on the lawn to enjoy the weather!
Breakfast was great every morning - I see why they have won local awards - it starts with tea or coffee, a fresh fruit cup topped with yogurt and crunchies/granola what a way to start your day! Than they bring in fresh baked goods: scones, muffins these were fresh warm and great. First day we had raisin and apricot scones mmmm delicious, the second day we had fresh blueberry muffins! We had quiche which has never been a favorite food of mine, but the fresh veggies and thyme really made this something I could enjoy. The other breakfast main dish was eggs Benedict which had chopped onions, avocados and ground meat. It was great!

Romantic Wedding Destination

We had the joy of booking our recent wedding with the Amethyst Inn. As we live out of town, we were unable to actually visit the venue until our wedding weekend. I was, however able to correspond frequently via email and my emails were always answered promptly and in an informative manner by Su. The venue surpassed everything we expected and the pictures on the website, although excellent, do no truly show what a beautiful building this is. Every part of our weekend was pure joy and all the extra touches that were provided by the management of this Inn, truly made this a unforgettable experience. I cannot say enough about the staff and how accommodating and helpful they were. There was always some member of the staff asking if there was anything more they could do for us, even though they had all ready gone above and beyond anything we could have expected. All our wedding guests were impressed with the venue and all the attention to detail that was provided. As for the breakfasts....they were absolutely outstanding! The consensus from our guests were that the cheese scones were the best they had ever tasted! The dishes were beautifully presented and were a feast for the eyes as well as delicious! The location is a less than 5 minute drive to downtown Victoria and we opted to take a taxi when we ventured out (cost $7-10 including tip) for the convenience of not having to find parking once we got downtown. The neighbourhood around the Inn is beautiful and it is very pleasant and safe to walk around. We look forward to returning and perhaps spend our anniversary with them!

Lovely B&B

We stayed here for 2 nights last summer and really enjoyed our experience. The breakfast was sizeable and delicious! We never felt like the service was lacking in any regard...The Victorian house was quaint and the décor matched the period well. We would stay here again!

Zero service, not secured at night, very disappointing

We had such an incredibly disappointing experience over the long weekend in September 2013. I understand there were extenuating circumstances which left them short-staffed, however no one communicated that to us upon our arrival or during our stay. We left notes on the main desk in the evening when we returned to our room and phone messages during the day when we were attending family functions, but no one responded. Our room was not made up for the entire three night stay. We had to search hallway closets for clean towels each night. On our first morning breakfast was served 1 1/2 hours late to the sound of fire and intruder alarms. Security of the building in the evenings was none existent, as the exit doors to the exterior stairwells were left wide open every night. When a staff member finally contacted me two days after our departure, he was somewhat apologetic but insisted we should have somehow known this was not a typical experience and been more understanding to the situation. I was promised a partial refund of our stay, but 6 weeks later it has not been applied to my credit card. I have now left another message and sent an email in hopes that someone will respond and make this right.

A lovely stay in a beautiful building

We had a lovely 3 night stay and were very impressed by the friendly, accommodating staff - they offered to upgrade our room for free when we arrived since they were not 100% full and even took us to tour both rooms so that we could decide. Breakfast was DELICIOUS and very filling and served extremely fresh when we arrived at the last moment.
