DO NOT STAY HERE!!
This has to be the worst Hostel in Amsterdam. It is filthy. We were charged €149 Euros plus €20 (booking fee)for a room that was very narrow with bunk beds. You could touch both walls, one of which was wobbly! The door lock had been broken many times with missing architrave. Three bottle tops on the floor, two white pills and bits of paper. The sink was disgusting in the room. The duvet was gross. When I complained to reception a very sweet girl called Zeta, she arranged for the cleaner to come back! I was not prepared to stay and with grief we finally got most of our money back. I must say I find it very difficult to believe that the reviews of this place are accurate.

Location was great, close to a lot of restaurants and cafes and around 15 min walk to the center. The rooms were small and crowded and the beds were not so comfy.
There are no lockers in the room so you must keep your things in the little storage room down at the reception. But the staff is super friendly and they don't really mind getting your things anytime you ask them. The place isn't really clean and they don't have soap or towels in the bathroom which is a big disappointment. So if you stay here make sure to bring soap.
The best thing about this hostel is without a doubt the staff! Especially Zita! She made the stay there worth it!

I most certainly had a wonderful time staying in the hostel the employees where super helpful and friendly especially thanx a million to Michael (mixail) for all the help.the room was in gr8 condition and to top it all off got free breakfast . 😊 I will most certainly b returning again hopefully soon.

I ended up staying at Orfeo on a weekend stop in Amsterdam. I booked a bed for 36 euros (Friday night), prices were the cheapest in the neighbourhood and the location is quite convenient, but the hostel's standards were very low. The room was tiny, with two bunk beds that didn't even have a ladder to clim on the top mattresses. Sheets didn't seem that clean and the only socket on my side of the room wasn't working, so I couldn't charge my phone. The bathroom was not very clean, especially the toilet, and there wasn't even hand soap or paper towels. Not much space for bags and no lockers, the only safe room is a closet next to the reception and you have to ask at the counter to open it for you. breakfast is included but it's only bread with jams and some coffee or tea. Receptionists were friendly but not too much. I'd have been ok had I paid 10 or 15 euros, but 36 for that room was definitely too much. Not recommended.

When I arrived they swiped my card for the full 4 Days. Then later I was told I must pay cash as they have decided to reverse the card payment.
They showed me a transaction but the amount was not reversed.
I ended up paying twice.
When I asked for a hatd copy as proof of the reversal before leaving I was told it had been sent to the main office and they couldn't get it. Even the cash receipt was suspect as it was a handwritten slip.
Now my bank is having trouble recovering the funds as they refuse to return it.
It get a zero as there is clearly a problem with the staff running the place. Taking advantage of young travellers.
