What People are saying

This ones about a 50/50 for me

We booked the Carriage Inn because we were able to get a room with three queen beds and we had four people in our party. The price was right for that size room and we were only in town for two days but the negatives definitely out weigh the positives at this motel. As with many if not most of the hotels/motels located in the Disneyland resort area, they get to take advantage of the fact that there will be masses of people needing rooms nearly every single day of the year. This means that they can skimp because someone will always book the room in spite of the negatives. I'm personally torn on this property because it scores well enough in my personal opinion for me to book it again but only if I have a large party that needs a place to crash. If you're looking for amenities or luxury, keep on looking!

First of all, the place is gaudy. A three story structure painted bright yellow contrasted by deep blue trim. It's just plain ugly and it shares it's parking lot with a shady looking massage parlor/restaurant. The place is called The Carriage Inn but inside the lobby is a sign that says a different name. I can't remember it exactly but is was something like Golden Curry Motel or something.

The lobby left much to be desired and we arrived too early to check into our room so we stopped by to drop off our luggage. They have a large sectional couch with table and a small desk with a computer. The "business center" if you will and that's it! They do offer a free breakfast but I was too unimpressed by everything else to attempt to find out where to go and see what there was to eat so I can't speak on that. Since we couldn't get our room key, we asked if there was a wash room where we could change clothes and clean up before we went sight seeing. We were directed to a small bathroom connected to the very back corner of the building by the pool. I kid you not, it was exactly like you'd find on the outside of a roadside gas station and to add to the frustration, one of the cleaning staff had just used the facility and left it with a very undesirable odor. There was a shower but it was located on the outside wall with no privacy. Mainly for showering off before and after using the pool and as for the pool, it was tiny. The hot tub was out of order and roped off with caution tape. It had a disgusting layer of film on the top of the water and the whole area was just filthy. We stayed away from that area for the rest of our stay.

The first room we were given was 225 and not long after we settled in, the kids were on their bed resting when sugar ants started appearing on the bed with them. We called the office and they acted like they are very used to dealing with this. They offered us a new room almost before we had explained what the issue was and after having to make the trip back to the lobby to turn in our keys, they gave us new ones for room 326 and we transferred our luggage. We were only in 225 for a short time but I can tell you that it was not cleaned well. There was a disgusting layer of soap scum all over the bathroom fixtures and the drain in the tub looked like it was out of a horror film. We checked all of the beds and they were clean but the towel that I used to dry off with after I showered has some stains on it.

Room 326 was actually a bit cleaner than 225 was and that was a nice surprise but it was still dirty and I found another sugar ant walking down the bathroom wall in the middle of the night. Maybe it came with us, maybe not. Our room was non-refundable so we chose not to complain again.

On the bright side. The Carriage Inn isn't that far away from the Disney parks and sits right on the Anaheim Resort Transit routes so you can easily jump on the bus and be at Disneyland in a few minutes. There are multiple places to eat right next door or across the street like Taco Bell, Carl's Jr. or Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles to name a few. The beds were actually quite comfortable and the air conditioning worked well in our room. They do provide a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker and there are a couple of vending machines by the elevator. Add that to the size of the room and the fact that it could sleep 8 comfortably and this place is a 50/50 in my opinion. Sure they need some improvements but they were courteous and dealt with our pest problem with no hesitation.

Pro tips: There's no luggage cart so be prepared to haul all of your luggage to your room. You can hear your neighbors pretty good no matter what room you're in especially if they are running the shower. The parking lot does have enough spaces to accommodate your vehicle and they'll even give you a discount coupon good for $5.00 off each of your park admission tickets as long as you are willing to go a block and a half down the road to redeem it. Either way, always purchase your park tickets in advance from your home or at one of the local resorts. It will save you the time of waiting in the box office line. mouseventureselite.com

Very old and run down but good value for a large family or a group

sidaros on 11/10/2017 08:32

The Hotel is very old and run down, It is a very good option for a big family on a budget or a youth group traveling together. If you only need a place to "crash" but you will be out all day visiting Disney or California Adventure, this is the place. The place has very few good rooms but most of them are old and run down, rooms 317 and 318 need some serious best control and the air cons in there are very loud. They offer very basic breakfast; "Boiled eggs", 3 types of cereal, coffee, toast, jam and butter. the walk to Disney is long particularly after a long day. take a Taxi, it is $8 only, the Hotel will charge $5 per person for the shuttle bus. all rooms have a fridge, some actually do work. A microwave and a coffee machine. Don't be disappointed if your room key stops working, you will get used to going to the reception almost every night to get it reprogrammed. The staff is helpful and they do what they can. the pool is very small but then again in a hot day it comes in handy. if you are on a budget and you prefer to spend your money on shopping or park entry.. etc, this is the place to stay. forgot to mention very close to Denny's and Taco bell and right next door to Carl's Jnr... they all come very handy for feeding a large group without breaking breaking the budget.

Comfortable

We stayed here and were unsure what to expect after seeing bad reviews! Honestly, the accomadation was comfortable! Its a bit of an older hotel, but was clean and had everything we needed! Plus it was an easy walk to Disney! We found this place to be in a great location!

A Disney Adventure

This was the first hotel on our 3 week west coast tour, I found the check in was very easy with just $50 deposit to pay for the room. The location for Disney is perfect! so much so you can see the fire works from your room. The hotel is noting posh but it is clean, tidy and very convenient. I would recommend this if you are not wanting to stay on park. plus there is a Wallmart down the road and many places to eat.

Great find and friendly service

Excellent value for money. We had low expectations for the price of this hotel - we had two families in adjoining rooms and an excellent experience. The staff were friendly and helpful when we had enquiries, the breakfast room was simple, functional and clean. The shower pressure was great, and the location quiet. Walking distance to the free Disney shuttle and close to good restaurants (particularly Clancy's up the road). The air con was a bit noisy and stale, but functional. Would recommend if you are looking for a cheap base close to Disneyland.
