Wonderful experience. Excellent structure and wonderful garden, cared for in detail. Friendly and attentive staff. Hotel in beautiful location along the river, convenient to take the boat to visit the city directly from the pier inside the property.

Came here for two nights with my girlfriend on our start in thailand (we are in our mid twenties). From the moment you arrive to when you leave the service is unreal... top class. Free ferry to night market and back aswel from its own pier was a great perk. The infinity pool at rooftop of avani straight across from the hotel is a must... costs 500 baht pp for the day but is worth every bit, highlight of our time in bangkok. (Can have all your drinks billed back to your room, think the hotels must be linked)

My family and I went to Anantara this June holidays for a 5 day 4 nights stay. I would like to elaborate on the positive and negative sides of his resort.
Positive
The facilities in this hotel are amazing, with a spacious pool, a kids club and boat services every 10-15 minutes. The view of the river is very good as well, and the hotel rooms are well designed. The breakfast buffet was delicious, providing a wide variety of different types of foods. The room service food is quite nice as well, and there is a bar in the swimming pool, which I feel is quite creative.
Negative
However, we are from Asia, and felt like the resort was more European inclined and treated Americans and Europeans better. For example, a waiter approached an American to ask about his stay, but even though a table with an Asian couple was close by, he completely ignored them.
There was also another night when my family and I wanted to head to Asiatique via the boat service provided by the hotel. The staff there were unable to inform us of the boat's route and we took 30 minutes to reach Asiatique. By then, most shops were closed.
We were disappointed by the staff's service, and approached the manager to give some feedback. The manager was very apologetic and apologised profusely. A few days ago, we recieved a letter form anantara regarding the bill. The manager removed the upgrade charges from our bill, and promised to address or feedback with their team.
Overall
I am touched and surprised by the managers actions. We did not need the manager to remove the charges from our bill, and are also very grateful. I feel like this resort deserves 5 stars

We stayed 3 nights on route to Europe for some rest and relaxation, we chose this resort hotel as it located out of the main city centre hustle and bustle and had a vast range of dining options and a great pool.
Whilst the property is away from the main centre of Bangkok, the hotel offers complimentary ferry transfers to the nearby BTS station and then only a few stops to places like Siam.
Whilst this is an old property it is relatively well maintained and the rooms are clean.
The breakfast buffet is excellent and it is just awesome to be able to sit outside by the river and watch the activity on the water - all the staff attending to breakfast were excellent.
We also are at the Japanese restaurant and trader vics - both were excellent and can highly recommend.
As we wanted some rest and relaxation we wanted to spend some time laying around the pool which we did - unfortunately the pool water was not as crystal clear as we would expect - in summary not clean. Also with the many guests from many oriental countries staying at the property, many of these guests tended to spit, hock and blow their noses whilst being in the pool. How we come to see this was happening as this was not done quietly or discreetly - how disgusting and this turned us of Swimming in the pool and also laying around. We. noted there are signs in English around the pool - No Spitting - it is obvious that the spitting in the pool is not a new problem but may I suggest they have the signs translated in the language of the guests who are the main offenders. I did complain to the staff and pointed out a couple of the guests in the pool doing this and at the same time the guests loudly spat and Hocked in the pool - the staff asked the guests to cease this immediately , at least the staff did something about it.
Overall a pleasant stay except for the issues with the guests poolside.
This is a well priced resort hotel.

Anantara is a lovely place to stay in Bangkok. We only stayed one night but this was exactly what we needed. A beautiful pool, great breakfast and a gym, right on the river, The executive room was huge we had a corner suite and this was perfect for us travelling with our 16 year old son. The Kahara lounge was delightful and delicious to have a snack in before we left for the airport. We were also granted a late 4pm check out which was much appreciated and very helpful! Thank you to the lovely staff and hotel. We would definitely stay here again. Very good value.
