Great place, the hotel is a little bit old but its still amazing. My recommendations are to choose the all inclusive, Its definitely worth it. Rooms at the top have great view but are really far.
The best elephant experience is the Mahmoud experience you actually get to ride the elephants.
The spa is also great try the Thai massage is really good.

We've been there with four persons, us and our kids 11 and 15, we spend there 2 nights, and we had an amazing time. One day we did the elephant ride and the elephant walk in the afternoon, both really good to learn more about these animals. The second day we did the golden triangel tour to Myanmar , Laos and Chiang Saen. we had a very nice guide (sorry I forgot the name) and he showed us a lot of his culture and the nighbours countrys.
We did not use the spa in the hotel, but the food was excellent, many different optione, even for the kids, the staff was well trained and very nice. The ambience in that lovley place is very peaceful and relaxed. We were sorry, that we had only 2 nights. You have a great view from the pool and the rooms over the river and from some places you'll see the elephants grasing. And you heare them everywhere.
It was a very nice place. The hotel is not as new as some other places and therefor there may be some complaints , but we didn't miss anything and we enjoyed our stay every minute.

Overall, fantastic, personnel, elephant experience, setting, personal attention, Dining by Design. Didn't feel "left aside" as being on my own.
Will definitely go back with my husband.
Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a place where you will be pampered and experience romantic relaxation and quiet look no further than Anantara. This resort is small and will cater to your every need. The staff is beyond excellent and the facilities are great. We are used to larger all inclusive resorts, so it took a little bit of getting used to the lack of commotion and restaurant and bar options. Once we did, it quickly became our favorite travel experience. I always felt like there were three staff to every guest. The level of service is so excellent.

Reserved room under stay longer receive an extra night option. Purposely did not book pay in advance because our plans were not fully set for the rest of our trip. When the confirmation came through it said not refundable and non-changeable. I called the hotel to say that was not disclosed in the main reservation page. They said it was in the terms and conditions, which was an asterisk and not stated in the main reservation page or payment page. HIGHLY DECPTIVE AND DISHONEST. Been traveling for 40+ years and stayed at some of the best hotel properties and never had this problem before. Avoid booking here unless your dates are locked in stone.
