What People are saying

A perfect fit for our needs

HERMAN C on 11/11/2017 22:35

We needed a place near the Custom House with easy walking to all of downtown areas for a few days at a reasonable price. This fit the bill. Extremely clean, wonderful hosts, could use an uplift but we are not complaining. The 8E breakfast left a little to be desired. Overall a very good stay.

Great value for money

We booked this guest house in an emergency for one night on 16th October after our flight back to Manchester was cancelled due to storm Ophelia and we were really pleased. The host could not have been more welcoming. We booked a room for 3 adults on room only rate whilst at the airport and when we told the host the reason for our stay she immediately threw in a breakfast each. The room was very clean as was the rest of the premises and the beds were comfortable. A really good breakfast, freshly cooked was served piping hot in a pleasant dining room. we ate at a pub (O'sheas) just up the street as recommended by the host and it too was good. On the day of leaving we could leave our bags safely until late afternoon. If you are looking for good value accommodation in Dublin then look no further.

Good quality, good price, excellent staff!

We originally ended up at the Anchor House by necessity rather than planning. The recent storm in Ireland had grounded our flight home and we had to find an affordable hotel in Dublin city centre for the night. The Anchor House is very reasonably priced based on hotel prices in Dublin and is only a short walk from the centre, so it fitted the bill and we booked.

The landlord was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and after hearing our story of our (multiple) flight cancellations she even offered to provide us with a breakfast at no additional charge. The room itself was very comfortable for the price, and had a good en-suite bathroom.

I would have to disagree with other reviewers who complain about needing to leave your room key at reception, and ring the doorbell to get into the property - not only does this mean that you don't need to worry about losing your key or having it stolen, it also adds an extra element of security to the hotel and reassures you that strangers cannot simply walk in off the street. It also means that there is always a member of staff around should there be a problem.

The room, price, and location were all great, but the best part of the stay was definitely the friendliness of the staff, who couldn't have been more helpful, from printing off replacement boarding passes for our flight to even providing local restaurant tips. If I return to Dublin I would definitely consider staying at Anchor House again.

Good Location

Joan G on 22/10/2017 19:29

While I understand the owner considers this a B&B, we did not, but rather a small hotel. Someone at reception 24/7 who must let you in. Most B&Bs give you a key to the front door and they are considerably smaller. They do have laundry service here which was a plus. However, they need to do some updating of the rooms as well as upgrade their housekeeping (see photos). And no, we didn't complain about it because we were out and about most of the day and just decided to live with it. Dublin is extremely expensive to stay in and this was one of the least expensive places. Location is good, just a short walk over the river for the sights. Breakfast was very adequate.

Great B&B in Dublin

Tony H on 22/10/2017 14:21

Anchor House B&B is located just a short walk from many of the attractions and great places to eat. We were able to walk to most places and got a ticket for the hop-on hop-off bus for the rest of the sites. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very good and the staff is great.
