Went to this hotel with a little trepidation after having read some not so good reviews. Absolute rubbish! Terrific hotel, rooms fine, beds fine. Food excellent and plenty to suit all tastes. Free wine with evening meal. Entertainment some nights. NOTHING to complain about at all, so to those moaning means get a life!

This struck me as a competently run hotel catering mainly for tour groups and conferences, but as a solo traveller I wasn't troubled by that. I enjoyed one night here on a half board basis. The receptionist was exemplary and the spaciousness of the lounge bar and poolside areas was very pleasant. The bedroom was similarly spacious. Mealtimes (buffets) were good-naturedly chaotic but nonetheless generally a good standard throughout.

We weren't staying in the hotel so cannot comment on the rooms, but we live locally so wanted to check out the facilities and were seriously disappointed, from the moment we walked in the sofas were sad, stained and saggy, I had to brush off dust and fluff from the chair in the cafe bar, the floor clearly hadn't been swept in days and even the napkin holder on the table was covered in dust. All the furniture we saw was scraped, dusty and shabby, the light fittings were loose, and we were disgusted with the gym facilities - health hazard doesn't come close!! The equipment was held together by duct tape, the flooring threadbare and one big wall mirror was smashed. The outside area was also tired and worn out, everything clearly years ago was 4 star but now?? 1 or 2 at best

We had a large comfortable room overlooking the pool. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. Staff were very helpful with our queries.
We had half board. Breakfast was a buffet with choices of continental or a cooked breakfast. The Spanish traditionally serve food warm or cold so if you want a hot breakfast go to the kitchen bar service for hot food.
The evening meal again was buffet with plenty of choices, serving for all nutritional needs. Again if you want hot food go to the kitchen bar. At dinner wine was included with your meal along with water.
The staff were helpful and had a basic understanding of English, far better than my basic Spanish! We had fun with pointing at items and other means of communication.
In the evening there was entertainment from Flamenco dancers, guitarist and singers. A lovely way to relax after dinner.
The hotel has a lovely pool and a spa if you have time in-between exploring Andalucía. Definitely a good base to travel from.
A short walk from the town and the Roman and Moorish castle and Gothic churches. Lovely bars to eat and watch the world go by. The town is built in the hills so be prepared to walk up hill in places.
Wifi is availble although is better in reception or by the pool if you require it.

This hotel has a four star rating but it really isn't. We stayed there as part of a Rail Discovery Tour, the first room we were allocated had the most awful smell, we asked for it to be investigated then as nothing changed on the 2nd day we asked to be moved - as we packed up to move the maid actually said the smell comes from the drains = so the hotel was aware of the problem yet still allocated the room! The food isn't too bad but is always cold, we were a party of 38 and during the week there were six people who took to their beds with 'the runs', I am sure this was food related.
The hotel is supposed to be within a short walk of the town, but it is at least 25/30 minutes walk away which, in the heat, is a long way!
The bar staff struggled to cope, often we waited for about 15 minutes to be served.
All in all very disappointing.
